Crash bug - avoidance details inside!

[This is a repeatable crash bug; I've sent the savefile and the galciv.exe.cra file to [email protected].]

What happens: For some reason (in my case, cultural conquest), you take over a planet with which you had a trade route. The freighter turns into a single-colored freighter-shaped blop on the map.

If you click that blop, you will CTD.

So, until Stardock fixes this... don't click the funny freighter-shaped blops. ;)

I could suggest that if you take over a system that you have been trading with, the trade routes from your empire to it are dissolved automatically since it's now a part of your domestic markets. The whole point of the trade routes, as I see it, is to improve the economies and relations of the two empires by supplying goods that aren't produced in the other.

Yep, that's true - agreed....

I think that what's happening is this: the game dissolves the trade route, but doesn't entirely dissolve the map-marker for the freighter. When the player then clicks on the half-deleted freighter's map marker, the "link" send the program to a non-existent data location (the deleted route data) -- boom.

The bug isn't the loss of the freighter route, it's the CTD when a curious newbie clicks on the color blop that is the partially-deleted freighter.

Is it wrong of me to want to reproduce this so I can see the colour blob? LOL

I could email you the savefile.... :)

I don't know of a secure way for you to tell me where to send it, though. :notsure:
