Yeah, I'm definitely suffering from this bug as well - I realized that SoaSE auto-records your games, so I started watching my most recent one. I figured something was up when my capital ship randomly tried (and failed) to solo rebels in a neighboring planet. 
On other replays, it simply minidumps after awhile. I'm not really sure what causes it to minidump, but I'd figure it's because of things referencing things that no longer, or never, exist.
