well, here's a short bit for ya:
“Sir, The shuttle docked with Valiant has reached capacity, and is moving to re-dock with us. The shuttle docked with Swift Foot is still failing to respond,” the comms officer reported.
“Thank you, Mr. Stevens,” Kol said, then switched to the in-ship comms. “Shuttle bay; make preparations to receive the Cerberus shuttle and its passengers. Ensure each passenger is checked over by a doctor. They are to be isolated if they have any open wounds.”
The standard reply came, “We copy, sir. Shuttle bay out.”
“Comms, contact the Valiant and have them undock even if they have to blow the entire section. It is imperative that they isolate themselves from Swift Foot.”
“Yes, sir. Transmitting message,” Stevens replied.
“All ships, prepare to fire on the Swift Foot and the Korigul. Transmitting firing solutions.” Kol commanded. “Weapons, get a firing solution on the two ships and transmit it to the fleet. Ensure that the Valiant is not targeted.”
“Yes, Admiral,” the weapons officer replied.
“The Valiant has blown the hatch and is exiting the danger zone at flank- HOSTILE CONTACT! A Vasari task force has just entered the well! Force deployment reads as two Vulkoras Desolator class assault ships, four Kortul Devastator battleships, six Skarovas Enforcer class heavy cruisers, two Lasurak Transporters, fifteen Kanrak Assailant missile frigates, and twenty Ravastra Skirmisher light frigates in standard combat formation.”
“Put it on the Tacboard.” Kol studied the situation a moment. The Vasari fleet had phased in on their right flank, but the Coalition commander still had time before the hostile ships were within range. “Move our Kodiaks and Cobalts to engage their line ships. Launch all squadrons. Ghost is ordered to provide ECM to our line ships. Anzio and Orleàns are to move to give fire support our line ships. Waterloo is to provide support for both battleships and the line ships. Eerie is to hold position away from the battle. Javelis frigates are to begin firing on the Vasari formation once in range. Move the Normandy to support the left flank of the Orleàns.”
By the time Kol had finished giving his orders, the Vasari ships were already nearing engagement range. His line ships had just passed the Korigul and Swift Foot when they engaged the Vasari, exchanging fire. Fighters and bombers were attacking their enemies, be they Vasari or Trader.
Aboard the Vasari flagship, the Tiraskus, the elder commander shook his head.
“They weren’t supposed to be here. This was supposed to be a simple, straightforward purge. Why must they interfere?” he asked no one in particular.
“Because, Admiral, that’s all they ever do. It’s in their very nature,” his exec commented.
“Then this human shall know the smell of defeat as he runs back to his outpost with his wings dragging on the ground. They shall know the name of Admiral Tarkin, and they shall know fear upon its very uttering. From hall to hearth!” he declared, and his closing cry was echoed by thousands of voices throughout the fleet.
“From hall to hearth!”
