Sins of a Solar Empire v1.12 Change Log

Fixing the things that made it past the net...

Ironclad and Stardock will soon be releasing v1.12 of Sins of a Solar Empire via Impulse (http://www.impulsedriven.com). This updated version resolves some bugs that made it past prior testing and also prepares the game for the upcoming Entrenchment micro-expansion.

Sins of a Solar Empire v1.12 Changes:

  • Gameplay / Balance -
    • Fixed bad toggle ability behavior exemplified by the Vasari Assailant.
    • Fixed ability created squads and fighters from being included in the stats system (thus potentially showing negative values).
    • Fixed tutorial bug where tutorial failed to advance when building a gauss cannon.
    • Fixed exploit where players could view the bounty on a planet infocard to determine the owner.
  • Networking / Multiplayer -
    • Fixed sync bug caused by bad market system variable initialization.
    • Fixed bug that made clients show that they had joined a game lobby they had been rejected from.
    • Fixed being able to add multiple copies of the same friend to your friend's list.
    • Changed a few confusing network related strings.
  • Misc. -
    • Converted some old meshes to binary.

I just got the update but now all my save games are invalid. *sad face*

Had a game I'd been playing for over 10 hours and I can't get it to load.

Yeah - that's a bummer with Sins updates :s

I learned my lesson in the early days and now I make sure my saved games are completed before applying a patch...

There's no link, you get it from Impulse.

Oh, and this just occored to me (while I was reading the list) Since the change logs get Shorter and shorter and shorter, one day all you dudes and chicks over there at Stardock and Ironclad will be sitting around, the perfect Sins change finnaly released and your manager will come in and say,"Alright, great job Team! But, I'm sorry to say that...

you're FIRED( )!! Yup, that's right, since Sins is finnaly devoid of all those little niches we don't need you anymore, but thanks for putting the billion bucks in our pocket( ), see ya!"
End of quote

what, that is silly.  That isn't what would happen at all.  He would walk in and say almost the same thing, except replace 'you're fired' with 'you're being moved to this new game' and 'we don't need you anymore' with 'we don't need you working on Sins anymore.  Go fix bugs on -insert game here-

so, I'm hearing both - are the old save games invalid, or not?

cuz I've got a like twelve hour one against a hard TEC that I really want to beat.

Not knowing that there was a new patch I purchased Sins today here in Germany. So after reading the news I just downloaded the whole game in Impulse. Registering the game with the serial was no problem at all, downloading was very fast (under one hour) and I even got the option to install the english version (which I prefer anyway). So here goes another "I love Stardock" post. :inlove:

Yeah, Stardock has a great system in place with Impulse.

After the update, my assailants and sents now continuously activate the long range missiles thus immobolizing them perminantly.  This happens whether the enemy is present or not.  I can only fix this by turning off the autocast.  Wasn't the patch supposed to fix this specifically?

Before 1.12 I did not have this problem.  Please advise...

Since the Update every Text in the game is only "String not found"

Do I have to reinstall it again?

Edit:
I have the german version of the game and updated by Impulse.

thumbs up.

This sounds really nice, but I don't have internet access on the computer where the game is installed. Quite frankly had I known I couldn't a patch it manually I never would have bought the game.

It really should have said something about this on the box. Instead of just saying internet access required for multiplayer games. It should have said internet access required for updates as well.

For now, until the official way is put into place, you'll have to get Sins patched on another PC, then copy the install folder on a usb stick and over-write your old version install on your offline PC. Until they implement the good method of offline patching, Impulse doesn't download any patch file or anything, it just scans and replaces changed files so you have to work with the entire Sins installation.

I have Sins 1.12.042 and played several games on Ironclad Online over the weekend. Now suddenly tonight I'm back to getting that "disconnected from Ironclad Online" message, as if my Sins was out of date. Impulse updated itself and now says "no new updates are available for installed applications."

Was a new Sins patch released today, and if so why isn't Impulse installing it?

Where do I go on Impule to download the patch? I just see it offering Entrenchment and SINS itself, nothing about a patch...

There's no separate patch file. When you have Sins registered, it should show a yellow ! over it to indicate the update, and the "Run" button in the lower right will change to "Update".
