Looking for a tutor

New to game, bad at game

Hey. In short, I'm really no good at Sins of a Solar Empire. I haven't played it in a while because it was very complicated for me and I didn't want to get into it at the time, but now I've got a lot of spare time on my hands and I want to learn how to be good at it.

I've played RTS's before, but not one as complex and deep as this.

Basically, I'd like someone to personally tutor me on how to play well against other players, through Ironclad Online. Yes, I know that everyone will say "play against bots for a while," but I want to learn how to effectively defeat other human beings, and the best way to learn that is from other players who are good.

How much you willing to pay?  Tutors aren't free B)

thats what the forums are for, just post about the situations where you get in trouble and you'll get a few options from more expirienced players.

1'st advise play the tutorrial, then play a game then replay the tutorial

2'nd play a game as each race, deside what you like best then stick with that fdor awhile.

3'rd repairbays will help ALOT with defending the first few games, tradeports are a must as soom as you reach 3-4 colonies

but basicly it's a pretty straight forward game until you reach the top of the foodchain, the diffrence is some of it is a bit hidden, took me quite a few games to realise just how much mony i was loosing by not upgrading planets fast enough

and keep posting every time you run into a *wall* there are very few dumb questions and most can be resolved fairly easaly there's just something you diddentthink about.

This is exactly why I think a tutor would be perfect for me. Instead of stumbling in the dark regarding little things like these, they could tell me it in the course of tutoring me.

I think your best option would be joining a clan that feels interested in training their recruits. (Too bad AoD doesn't have a Sins division... at least not yet...) I agree that a tutor/trainer could be very useful for someone who wants to play Sins as a PvP game, because when you see how someone plays with/against you, you can give much better targeted advice.

On forums, you can get advice that you can't put into practice or then it's something which you can already do, or something which you can already do better ;D

Playing against bots is not useless, you will learn how to handle the basics, how to get decent production economy, what the different ships do and how to micro them. You need that basis to be able to tackle human players, and when you are ready to get trashed online you have a grasp of the basics so you can just adapt your learned tactics to the multiplayer scene.
