I am not able to play after updating the game, i went from 1.05 to the current 1.12. When i start the game either with impulse or the actual shortcut, it will got a black screen that i am not even able to bring up the task manager and i have to initate a restart to get my comp back over.

I was able to run it perfectly fine before the update,

For me the black screen pauses for an unusually long time (5-10 sec) with no apparent hard drive movement or loading, but eventually starts playing the game.  I don't know if waiting it out will allow you to play the game.

I had waited for 15 min berfore and it will not allow me to go forward or even clsoe the program.

I am having this issue as well, and I was not getting it as of 1.11.  It looks like it is a definitive crash.  I occasionally do coding work on this machine, and one thing I have noticed is that an instance of vsjitdebugger.exe comes up (Visual Studio just-in-time debugger), which 99.9% of the time indicates that an app has crashed.

But I effectively get the same thing... black screen w/ that debugger out of sight (the only way I found out about it was by forcing the task manager panel over to my right monitor on my dual-monitor setup before getting this issue a second and third time).

What you have to do is force some other program so the game minimizes, then close whatever program you forced, then restore the game, and it should start. this happens to me alot. very strange.

and if you cant force the Task manager, just wait a while for it. about a min should do.

Yeah, no, it's pretty much dead, that doesn't work.  Must be a different issue from what you're getting.  It's at "Not Responding"

I have attempted to switch out of the program (alt+tab,Win+d,Ctl alt del) and it wont let me go forward, it will make mke restart the entire comp, i think i may have to uninstall the whole thing.....

Here's a question:  Do you have a Mod selected to automatically load on Startup?  I'm having the same issue, but just realized that I have a mod set to load.  Although I uninstalled Sins and re-installed on Impulse to no availe, I noticed that on uninstallation it still left a lot of files in my Sins directory.  I'm trying to uninstall, delete the entire folder, and reinstall.   Hopefully that will do the trick.

EDIT:  Deleting the Sins folder did not do the trick, however deleting the mods in my MODS folder did!  I can now load the game, woohooo!!!!!

I've ben having the same problem.  I uninstalled the game in an attempt to downgrade so I can play a few mods that haven't made the jump yet and it would never load right, even if I deleted the registry.  I'm going to try your method and see if it works.

EDIT:  Okay, well that didnt work.  Wen i try to load the game all it does it gives me a black screen and then dumps me back to my desktop.  Anyone have a fix for me?

Having the same problem....  What a waste of 30 bucks so far...  Have had the game for like 3 days and cant even play it.  It works before patch, but not after.  Isnt the patch supposed to fix the game?  LOL!!  Way to go stardock...

Update:  I uninstalled, cleared my registry, and used the impulse installer.  Took forever, but now the game works.  Yay me!!!!

I'm have the same issue and stardock's lack of real tech support SUCKS!  Get real and current Stardock and get at a minimum Chat tech support.  Email with a 2 day windows is "LAME!"

i found this outwhile installing on my new pc, so im posting because it may help someone. I had just built my pc and i hadnt installed all my drivers so i uninstalled everything. Then i just installed sins and it worked, so i reinstalled all my programs one by one. It turns out that sins wouldnt run only after i had installed my pen and tablet, but i have no idea why. Cant use my tablet but sins works great now.
