Auto-colonization?

Why?

I just started a game as vasari, and got the colony capital ship, with the colonization ability. I turned the colonization abillity OFF auto cast yet it appears to do nothing. I made the capital into a fleet leader and whenever the fleet arrives at a neutral well it rushes to colonise the planet. anyone else experiance this?

EDIT

re-toggleing the ability made no diffrence either

I tested with auto-colonize disabled on the Advent capital and it was fine. Sure you didn't have another ship there?

I've had this problem with TEC. I haven't tested it with any other race yet.

I've noticed the same thing. After a bit though, for me, it seems that using the auto-cast stops working completely and the ship'll just sit next to the planet until I tell it to colonize.

well after i stoped the order to colonize(after it jumped) it didn't colonize the planet, so it's not the actual auto-cast

Yes, I have same problem as Vasari player. Even though it is turned off, my egg still auto-colonize the planets with three neutral siege frigates XD

I found this happening as well so I did some testing.  What I have found out is that if a ship with the colonize ability is the lead ship(it's portrit at the bottem center of the screen) of a group it will leave the reast of the fleet behind and only it will make the phase jump to try to colonize the system that the FLEET was supposed to jump to if your last intel says its unknown or uninhabited.

Going hand in hand with that bug is the one where the ship with the colonize ability automaticly tries to colonize when first ariving even if auto colonize is turned off.

It's not a bug. Directing a ship to move to an uncolonized planet directs it to colonize that planet.

This IS A BUG, and I have already reported it.  It's absolutely annoying and it NEVER happened before Entrenchment.

The Akkan at least tries to colonize neutral planets, even if they happen to be defended, so long as no hostiles are within immediate engagement range. This is with grav well engagement range set...

the weirdest part is that the colonize order gets issued even fi theres not enough antimatter

so it just sits at the max range of the ability until the antimatter charges up

This also happened to me as TEC.  When I added another ship to the fleet (originally just the one) it seemed to work correctly though.

My Vasari cap ship did the same thing despite having autouse turned Off. It *is* a bug - simply telling a cap ship to travel to a system should not imply anything beyond travelling to that system. Failure to rectify this entails a step of micromanagement whenever you deploy Colony cap ships.

Mind you I have no doubt this will get remedied.

The issue is not with colonizing exclusively. I launched a TEC game last night and built a Marza w/ Raze Planet. Jumped into an enemy system, and the Marza made a beeline for the planet, ignoring an enemy capital (-_- ) and an enemy starbase (8O ) to use Raze Planet.

It almost looks like they tried to change the "ships stop bombing when scout enters the system" thing most of us came to strongly dislike by bumping up the planet-target priority, but it seems to be a little bit too high!

I think this bug is specific to ANY ability that has to do with cap ships and planets.  I got my lvl 6 egg and it imediately wanted to suck the planet dry of an enemy when I jumped in, even though the auto-cast is turned off.

Yup.

I think it goes for ANY ship that has an ability that targets a planet.  I do know that the bug affects the little colony ships also.

This happened to me as TEC. The Akkan was in the well with colonize on, but when i realized there were nuetral siege ships, I clicked colonize off, but it still proceded to colonize.
