Advent Mine Mosquito Invasion

So I tried to invade an Advent planet with a decent fleet. Had about 13 capital ships, and around 80ish cruiser/frigate mix. A powerful fleet. Enough to charge into a planet, I would assume. That is until I got bombarded with homing mines, like a swarm of mosquitos.

I don't know if its a glitch or bug or what have you, but I jumped in then paused the game in shock and looked at the command bar. There was literally 800+ homing mines (that I counted in their stacks of 10) all hanging out on the left half of the planet. The whole left sideof the gravity well was painted yellow by these things.

Needless to say, I tried to get in range to take anything out and lost everyone of my ships save for one battleship that got eaten up by some leftover homing mines in my gravity well upon retreat.

Just waves and waves of these mines taking out my capital ships in one shot, just boom. I don't get it.. is this intended? I tried to use a scout ship to clear out some of these homing mines, but they didn't do anything. That, and what am I supposed to do about clearing these other mines? Any scout fleet would get decimated before even reaching the mines the way the AI had it set up... and it was on normal difficulty. The only alternative would be to send in waves of fleets to their sacrificial demise, but thats not my kind of strategy, I'm not much into zerging...

Thoughts.. ?

I really hope this gets fixed soon.  I like defenses and stuff, but minespam isnt fun at all.

Advent homing mines are built b squadrons however once they they set up they become mines and no longer count towards the squad total, the hanger then sees that you have a squadron qued and procides to build another, concevably giving unlimited mines for the price of a hanger.

Hmm so this isn't intended? That makes sense. I wasn't clear how mines were balanced after playing with them for a few hours. They are crazy powerful and my carrier just kept dropping them as I went. Considering how long it took to kill with fighters/bombers, the mines seem like nukes.

Makes a lot more sense that each "squadron" of mines should hold it's que place, rather than cranking out unlimited mines. Was pretty amusing sitting back with carriers and moving the mines right next to the ships, then telling them to activate, POW! BOOM, Starbase destroyed!

Thats what I think too. The homing mines need to be really really weak until they're activated otherwise you can just fly a bunch into a fleet and activate them. 50 HP with Very Light armor, tops.

hey this also makes carrier spam possible all u do is build 2 carriers 1 of each type of squadron then jump into an enemy grav well and wait when they send LF after you deploy the mines. i just used this tactic to destroy a vasari SB }:) without losing any carriers. thats just a little sad
