Downloadable version

how does it work?

Hello,

 

I was thinking of buying the downloadable version of the game. The thing is, I hate those community software things, or programs that need to run in the background while I run the game. Steam is enough as it is! So I was just wondering if I can just download the game, install it and play it without any extras?

You can. Impulse does not need to be running in the background to play. You use it to download (and re-download whenever you need to) and to patch, and then you can leave it off until the next patch
