Vasari end-game gun vs. mines

Has anyone fired one at a mined system?

If I remember right, the vasari's final weapons technology is it's hugely overpriced gun (that I think went down in cost actually).  I dont remember it's name, but has anyone tried it out on a system with mine's in it?  That seems like it may be a quick and easy way to remove a bunch of mines from a star system.

mines are invulnerable unless you have a scout nearby so i doubt that it will work.

Kostura cannon - it should work with a small change, except it would be fairly easy to make mines completely pointless.  after all, in large maps, I usually end up with 7+ cannons and sometimes set them to autocast.  but only when there is still a lot of planets to be taken, even tho I'm owning them (usually happens in AI only) and don't need the cannon.  maybe if it just disabled the mine's detonator for a while.

Mines are invulnerable until a scout detects them. You COULD send in a boatload of scouts to detect most of the mines and then shoot the Kostura. That might work. BTW, the Kostura got a buff, it turns any planet it shoot into a temp phase stabilizer so you can launch an attack on anyone anywhere any time. Uberlicious.

That's awesome! I need to go try that out. Also, does anyone know yet if the Kostura can disable starbases?

I would think that if you flood a planet with scouts, fire the cannon, and make sure that there are still a ton of scouts at the planet when it hits, you could take out the mines.

that buff - is that in the entrenchment beta or v1.12?
