Auxiliary Government

Not working?

Hello,

 

I just built a star base beside a planet I owned, then upgraded with auxiliary government. The AI rushed in with a big fleet and a bunch of siege frigates. The planet died and I still had my starbase there. Am I missing something or is this bugged?  Can anyone else confirm this behaviour?

 

Also, the new ways the AI attacks, very nice! It took them a while to get going but once they do it's much more efficient.

I think it suppose to make sure that they can't take it over unless the starbase is taken down as well.  So, they can destroy the colony but they can't take it over unless the SB is gone.  I think thats how it works, not sure, I'll read it later.

It says they can't destroy the colony, either.

I take that to mean that although they can bomb it down to zero, it won't actually die until the starbase dies.

I'd prefer to see it leave the colony under your control, at 1 health and 0 population. That way you still have the ability to build in the system. Losing the colony takes that away, even if the enemy can't colonize it.

What about giving the Aux Government upgrade another level(or a researchable tech-very high, like 6-8...or make it faction based) that enables a starbase to recolonize the planet (only) after it has been destroyed?  It would, of course, not be an autocast ability, unless you enabled autocast.

This is what makes me wish beta files were in text, so we can see what it actually does without guessing

Well it says that it allows you to runt he colony from space. I certainly couldn't build any buildings or ships so it seems kinda useless if you ask me. Who is going to build a colony when an enemy starbase is there anyways?

I second that! Although I understand the intend to have the planet be no mans land when the colony is destroyed but a SB is still intact.

From what i understand of what it says you are not suposed to lose control of the planet through bombming and prevent colonisation until the starbase is destroyed. How ever whent he enemy does bomb the planet and kills it you do lose controll sicne your can't build anythign anymore. Thus to me this upgrade does not work.

its a bug, im 100% certain its supposed to make it so you cannot lose control of the colony through bombing.
