Hull point revision needed

Base Hull points as they are now:

Starbase 3000

Orbital structures ~ 4000-6000

Capital Ship ~ 3000

Starbases are much larger than anything else. I would suggest raising Starbase starting hull points to 9000 but making the defensive upgrade increments much smaller, focusing on Armor and Hull/Shield regeneration rates instead of adding thousands of Hull points. And of course the build time for a Starbase needs to be much much longer. Starbases could even start without Shields or Weapons to keep the initial cost reasonable. It should be possible to upgrade it with trading facilities before turning it into fully armed battlestation if that's what you need.

A fragile looking Frigate factory having more Hull than a Kol Battleship seems wrong as well but I suppose the structures need it because of the lack of shield mitigation.

Remember those orbital structures do not have shields. If I remember right they also do not regenerate as fast as ships.

I would strongly advise against raising the initial hull and lowering the upgrades. This will only limit the versatility of starbases.

Why would you want weak hulled Starbases that are easily wiped out by abilities such as the Space Egg's Nano Disassemblers? While smaller orbital structures can take much more punishment.

Let me make a more exact suggestion:

Non-upgraded Starbase:

9000 Hull, NO shields

with level 1 defense upgrade:

9000 Hull, 3000 Shields + mitigation (there could even be a nice race against time to get the shields up before an attacking fleet destroys the starbase)

with level 2 defense upgrade:

10000 Hull, 4000 Shields, Armor upgrade, Shield/Hull regeneration upgrade

Keep in mind that Advent structures now do have shields and mitigation. It makes no sense a Hangar bay with 6000 Hull and mitigation is 3 times harder to destroy than a Starbase without upgrades.

The hull values should be proportionate to the size of the structure before any shield/mitigation concerns. Because there are abilities and weapons that ignore shields.

I see where you are coming from, and these more exact numbers clarify a bit better.

i still think 9000 is a bit high but if the star base starts with no shields and no armour it's not ridiculous.

Remember though, as it stands now Starbases are only 2000 credits. That's not very much. 60% of a battleship,  less than 2 carriers, about 6 Light Frigates.

It does present an interesting approach though by having a lot of hull but little armaments, armour or shields that would make it a battlestation. I wouldn't mind testnig out an approach like this to tweak the numbers. It might actually turn out pretty good.

9000 hp base hull with no shields would be weaker than the current starbase. Nano-disassembler doesn't do much damage, but it does reduce armor, so even that ability would be stronger against a hullbased SB.

for the record, advent structure mitigation never goes above base. it doesn't go up to 57%+ like a SB, frigate, or capital ship

I don't think the current numbers are a huge problem, but conceptually I like this idea. :)
