[suggestion] Mine solution

* Instead of individual mines, place them as mine field units. This should ease the intense micro associated with mines now. Destroy mines individually though.

* Mine fields built in controlled grav wells should automatically regenerate over time if some of the mines detonate

* Mine fields built in grav wells should cost tactical slots and mine fields built anywhere by ships should cost fleet supply.

* Vasari Ruiner: capable of building a single mine field unit at a time at any location. When a new one is built by the same ship, the old one detonates. A mine field for X fleet supply cost is easy to calculate and balance. Have building a mine field take some time to limit attacking with mines. Give the Ruiner a regular weapon so it won't be totally boring to have around after it lays its mines. A mine field created by the Ruiner does not rebuild detonated mines over time, a new mine field must be created to have a full one.

* Aeria Drone Host: same as the Ruiner except the choice to lay 0-3 mine fields

* Mine Fields: large areas with lots of mines with a blast radius bigger than their detonation radius

* The key is to have a single mine field large and powerful enough to make a difference.

* Have ships and fleets stop movement automatically if they detonates a mine instead of letting them commit suicide

I like this idea.  Something needs to be done about the mine spam.  Otherwise, I would like a way to turn the mines off in an individual game.  Actually, it might be nice to have a way to turn space bases off as well.  Not sure if this is planned for the final release, but just because I bought Entrenchment doesn't mean I always want to play with it.

Mark,

If you don't want to play with Starbases or Mines then you shouldn't be playing entrenchment.  Why don't you just keep v1.12 installed in another directory?
