Starlancer mod

Does anyone remember the moment in starlancer when the minsk was about to destroy the reliant and the yamato got there just in time, spewing the ronin out of her hangers and smashing the minsk with her anti-cap batteries and torps?  I'm working on a mod at the moment by myself just for friends, but i'd love some support and perhaps even if there's an experienced modding team out there we can pick it up.  Purpose?  To add dozens of new types of strike craft and make capitals really worth buying......     for arount 150000 credits 5000 metal and 7500 crystal.     Unable to kill frigs effectivley and no planet bombing.    I know im gonna get flamed for that, but it should be down to bombers.   Dont lose the air-space in the first place.

1) Price is WAYYYYY over the top..meaning your cxaps will only be usable in lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggggggggg games and only to a cap limit of one!

Getting more than 150K at one time is just asking to get attacked with your pants down!

2) Is your mod adding a race only or a total conversion?

If adding race, join our team Kiedjor, Tkins, Teal (I think), SpardaSon and myself! on our own compilation of sins mods! So far we have three fully refurbished vanilla races...my advanced Nephil race in the works and Tkins 6 new races mod :)!

If total conversion than sorry but I dont think were there yet! :)

Gabriel, I really loved starlancer and I think it had some of the best capital ships around. I would love to see a mod that used starlancer ships with appropriate weapon balances. A freespace mod would also rule (slightly more ;P).

 

Anyway, Mastiff is certainly right about the pricing. Caps in starlancer were very awesome; however, making them 150k creds is a bit much. Maybe think about doubling the price/resources and halving the supply from vanilla sins.

 

Hmm, now I might have to try to make a freespace 2 mod lol.

okay, maybe 150k is a bit steep :|  

 

But in all honesty, i do think that even at 3x the price the capis will be far too cheap and unbalancing, leading to a need to reduce their effectiveness.    I have been thinking and the best i can come up with is having the capitals require research...  Something like the reliant (i've totally forgotten what class she was) could be built straight-away, using crusaders, and later research can unlock the different fighters to be built.  Perhaps having them cost resources might help in balancing, and this would also stop some idiot getting the yamato with "firstcapitalisfree" and ruling.

But then you have to reconsider command points..cus in the message you sent me, Yamato costed only like 4 command points comparer to your carriers that costed 14...so if Yamato is supposed to own all, shouldnt command points be inverted?

oh lol...  not fleet cost, actual command points (number of ownable squadrons)
