Mouse works but there's no point to it?...

New to PC gaming & wanna be Sins player needs HELP

I'm hoping someone can help me with my mouse. I can tell that it is tracking as I move the mouse but the pointer doesn't show on screen?.. Is there an adjustment or setting that I should be looking at. Any help would be appreciated.

Make sure you install and configure whatever software and drivers came with your mouse.  There was an old issue with certain pointing software being on computers causing something like this, but it's been too long and I'm too fuzzy on the details right now.

Hopefully the first step should solve your problem.

I had this same problum back when City of Hero's came out, on the SIN shortcut at the end of the "Target" line put this    -compatiblecursors 1

dash and all, im not sure if it will work but its worth a try.

Good luck!

The system I'm using is Windows XP,2002 with the original mouse that came with the computer. The thing is, the pointer works fine when I'm using it in any other application with the system. I also picked up Warcraft and again. No problem?... Any ideas.

Are you saying the actual pointer isnt showing up in game? and have you tryed the Target line thingy?

This is typically due to old video drivers (ATI in particular); get them up to date and it should sort the issue.

:cylon:  Sorry for taking so long to get back and thanks for the tip!.. Your advice to update my driver was the answer to the problem. I really don't know computers that well but it's obvious that if I want to get into PC gaming I'm gonna learn. What a trip, I just have one more question. With all the infomation I got from the Windows help menu and the Intel web site in regards to my driver during the download I still don't understand what ATI" stands for?... They don't cearly mention if it is a term, as in a "type" or does it stand for the manufacturer?.. I kinda have to have things dumb down for me but hey, I get to play my game now!!! I can't wait. Thanks a lot 4 your help, You Rock

I did try the "target thingy" as you advised, "a term I still have not found in the help menu", but it didn't resolve the problem. No worries, problem solved. I'm in the game. Thanks 4 the reply.

End of rand1221's quote
ATi is a brand of video card manufacturer. Like Ford or Toyota make cars, or Intel and AMD make CPU's.
