On Starbase Phase inhibitors

There are many of us that argue to have a phase inhibitor on the grounds that it would force the engagement of starbases.

But there seem to be just as many that don't want it. But i fear i must discredit many of those who are against it for their basis of their arguement is that their are tactical structures for this.

This Giant flaw for this is I want to place starbases near stars and in instellar storms and such. What about then? My starbase is worthless espcially if i have a human player who could care less about it and that just keeps outside of my starbases limited range?

So I want to see someone make a logical argument against phase jump inhibitor without the mentioning of the structures that already do that.

And then I want to see that person destroyed by someone else in the community. I am just a simple thought provoker.

The only reasons I can see Phase Inhibitors not being all that great right now is that, for one, as you mentioned, there alrady are structures that do this for us. It's in the case of being in unfriendly space where the issues exist. However, what's the point of a phase inhibitor that can keep a fleet from jumping, while the fleet is also out of the woefully short range of the vary star bases inhibiting their jumps?

In other words, I think there are other fish to fry first before Phase Inhibitors can justly be addressed, primarily, the whole effective range of the star bases. =/

Thats true. I should have laid a disclamier. Lets all assume the starbase has a way to engange any vessel within its phase jump prohibiting range.

at the very least, perhaps a star base can have the ability to ENHANCE the efficacy of a PI.  That would be nice too.  it could be a researchable option.

Whoops! I forgot to use the search function. Here's what I put in my thread:

Starbases as they are, have laughably short ranges and generally can do nothing to stop fleets from just passing them by. They are particularly useless in uninhabilable gravity wells like stars or gas giants where they have few options to back them up. I think giving starbases an option for a phase jump inhhibitor-like upgrade, along with an overall increase in range, would go a long way from keeping invading forces in line. Perhaps even make it an antimatter-using ability to keep it balanced, but as it is right now, there is no reason to engage starbases, particularly in uninhabiable gravity wells around stars or gas giants.
