hi ive been playing sins for about 6 months now and i think i want to get into modding i DL silents modding guide and the little tweaks i want seem simple enough but i have one major snag that i hope you peeps can help me with. in the guide it says to mod a shipfile i should open it with notepad or another word processor and it should come out looking like some of the examples in the guide however when i go into the games game info directory and open a ships file like the vasari battleship it gives me this....

it looks nothing like the nice orderly files that came with the guide and i dont want to screw stuff up so i left it alone am i not using the right encoding 4 the file or wrong app to open it? please help !!!
