[Suggestion] Adjusting the "Fog of War"

One thing I've never really understood in Sins is why stationary objects dissapear from view after your ships leave the gravity well. Once the information on stationary objects in the gravity well is collected its not like they move. Before it really wasn't a big deal but now with mines and starships it would be helpful for those to remain in view.

i agree it would help keep u alert about were mines are and the best way to get around them until u feel like mine sweeping

Each gravity well under the fog of war should be presented the way you/ally last saw them but through a grey filter. Would be helpful in deciding where to enter a grav well for instance.

Isn't there a "last intel..." ability tied to some research?  I play advent alot, and thought there was an advent ability that gives you that last time point of view into those gravity wells. Perhaps that ability could be adapted for use by the other races? Although, to my mind the Vasari have a pretty heavy advantage to begin with. I know lots of players like them, but to my mind they are too over-powered and need to be aligned more closely with the tec and advent. I love the racial differences and strengths, but just believe the vasari are too much stronger than the tec and advent.

Anyway, i think that abiltiy may be able to be modded to the other races and thus help you with the fog-of-war issue.

Another issue on the fog of war I never understood, is why all ships are visible when jumping between stars? It just seems unintuitive, and always gives information about attackers on the way to your star system.

actually a good point you brought up. yeah, structures and planet information should stay at their last known information level until updated with further recon. that would also help plan assaults, you know, where to enter phase space for optimum exit and such. although you'd then want to have more recent intel. in any case, it would be useful and since the "what" is already in place, I don't see why the "where exactly" should not be in, given that we deal with stationary objects here.
