Sync error

I play multiplayer sins using a direct internet conenection with my mate with me hosting. We were playing a large multi map vs 4 teams cinsisting of 1 hard and 1 unfair AI. We were both Vasari and the AI's advent or TEC to avoid mine spam. the error appeared to start several hours in after a pirate alert, i saw 6k credits on me and my mate saw none. Shortly after this we jumped our fleets into the pirate base, he said he saw 6 or 8 of my assailants jump early and proceed to get twatted while the bulk of my fleet took ages to jump. What i saw was my fleet jumping as a whole and quickly kill the base. I killed the asteroid well before he saw it on his end and after this when we moved fleets about it was all weird so we quit.

I was the other guy playing. Is there a log file we can provide to the devs and if so can someone tell me where it is and what to do with it?

This happens to me everytime I play online with my friends... doesn't matter if its a direct connect game or using stardock's online platform.  Give it enough time and it will desync.  HOTFIX PLEASE!?!

I ran into this too in a LAN game with both of us allied against 2 AI's. It got very strange, in that some of the planets we each had colonized thwe other one of us saw as still being controlled by the enemy or neutral.

Also I had eliminated the pirate base entirely with it registered as dead (complete with shattered glass and 0:00 opn the pirate bounty screen.) Hopwever for her the pirate base was still registered as intact, complete with bounties and randomly sending out pirate waves only she could see. (which attacked and blew up planets I had colonized, but once against only registered this on her game.)

In the end it displayed a "victory" screen only for me, making her wipe out one of the enemy colonies that only registered for her before gigiving her the victory screen.

(I have the save and replays if anyone needs them)

Edit: oh and we were still networked as we coudl freely transfer resources to one another via the trade screen

Haha, Yeah we were doing lan as well.. I saw an entire fleet of ships bombing his homeworld, so i told him and he was "Uh WHAT!??!?! Then he says no....

The thing is, When he moved his ships, it moved them on my screen, When i moved my ships, It moved them on his screen, we could send resources and all, The only thing off was the pirate bounty and what the enemy's where doing/where they were at.

Aye exact same thing for us, we could still see each others fleet mvoe around and everything, but it was nearly like we were playing to entirely different games, or the wormholes led one of us to a fractured alter reality. >_>

 

Given I don't have the hard drive room for a seperate Sins install for basic 1.12 and haven't played Sins since version 1.02 (real life + computer problems kept me away) Am I correct in assuming this is a new problem unique to Entrenchment? Or is this a still occuring bug from Sins 1.10/1.12?

desyncs are a known issue and the devs are working on it.  Hopefully most of them will be fixed with the next hotfix.

To Silveressa: yes this is mostly an entrenchment issue (although i've had a desync before on vanille sins but not for a while).

 

We all know that desyncs are a known issue but just posting on the forums feels like this will just get lost in the 10,000 other similar posts without IC getting any useful data out of it. My original question still stands: is there anything we can actually give to the devs in terms of hard data as surely it will speed up any fix they come up with. As far as i'm concerned the quicker this gets to a final release the better. Spose i'll just keep passing time on L4D in the meantime...

 

Oh yes and please get rid of the vasari mine spam. Words fail me as to how much this fucks up the game.

This same thing happened to me and a buddy of mine playing over ICO.  We started noticing descrepencies in our game.  We were both still in the game, and communicating through the in-game chat.  We even took a couple of cell phone videos and sent to each other to show what was different.  We then both made manual saves.  He's going to e-mail me his then I'll send both of them to Iron Clad along with a description of some of the descrepencies we noticed.  Hopefully it'll help them track it down.

Same here!  Ruins multiplayer games instantly.  PLease if there is nothing else done, fix the sync problem.  Just cannot play multiplayer again until it is fixed.  Can't play if I dont see the same game my allies see.

Yepper, This happens not all the time. But enough to make the 2hrs of fun we were having go straight down the drain.  That is the only functionality problem tha tI have come across, well other than the occasional mini-dumps.  But yeah.

Please fix the sync errors that way one of us (me and like 4 friends usually play over LAN) does not get stuck in our own paralell universe.  Last time we played we got 3 hours into a good game versus 5 AI and then one guy realizes that he is in his own game.

Like I said we love SOSE / Entrenchment but we are not fond at all of the sync problems.

Bump!
My friends and I were playing a 3v3 and about 3 hours into it we get de-synched. Using Entrenchment B2, mind you, but we had this issue before without the expansion in. I'm really surprised that it looks like this has been an issue since last April and the bug fixers can't track this one down. It's really frustrating to get so far vs 2 Unfair and 1 Hard and just have the game blown away. Hope the devs take this seriously since there are all kinds of people having this problem.
