Quick Pointless Question

[video / display related]

Why the sharp hit to FPS when you enable cinematic mode? Does the draw distance go way up or something? Every now and then I want to just watch things unfold with cinematic... without all the clutter icons... the hit makes it not worth doing. Suggestions?
