Here is how to do the binary to text converting.

Note: I have use the FrigateTechCarrier.entity file has a example!

Make a new folder on the desktop and also an convert.txt file, and put the code in has follow, so it will make a new converted file.

convertdata.exe entity FrigateTechCarrier.entity FrigateTechCarriert_test.entity txt

Or this code will converts the same file.

convertdata.exe entity FrigateTechCarrier.entity FrigateTechCarrier.entity txt

save and close the file, then change the file to convert.bat.

The files you need in the new folder are has follow.

ConvertData.exe ( this is from the Sins of a Solar Empire main directory. )

Converter.bat ( this file you have just made, and it does the DOS stuff. )

FrigateTechCarrier.entity ( this file is just a example it will work with any of the files. )

Then just click on the convert.bat file, to do the DOS stuff and it will work fine. B)

Quoting Progressbar,

Use the ConvertData.exe in the Sins install folder not the ForgeTools version.

And make it easier using this - https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/335013

This works like a charm with Entrenchment

If you're still running into problems just download the already converted files from here: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/336147

Alternatively if you need to convert back and forth between the files, I've created a frontend gui for the program here: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/322559
End of Zanyth0x42's quote

That'll come in handy for adding in changes to the game itself you wantto be permenant rather than a mod.

Hey dchan1936

Still having problems, can I ask what are you trying to do? Binary to Text, or Text to Binary or both?

Have you got all the right files you need in the folder to do the converting?

Also are you trying to convert the files from the original game or from the Entrenchment (Micro Expansion)? If you are I can't help with that, because I havn't got the EME yet.

Yeah, but there isn't one for Entrenchment which is what I imagine they're trying to convert. There was a thread with a link to all the Entrenchment text files put up yesterday or the day before, though..

He means he doesn't like that now only 90% of the fleet jumps with "group jump" enabled so that you don't have to wait 20 minutes for the entire fleet to align. He likes it when every single ship needed to be aligned before jump.
