A few questions about this immense game..

Greetings fellow gamers!  I enjoy playing SOASE but i'm confused about certain issues which i hope can be responded to. These are:

1) I noticed that newly built ships automatically join a certain fleet. There are times when i don't want them to do that so i manually toggle "leave fleet" and disable "auto join" everytime each one comes out of the factory. This is so time consuming esp. when there are several units being built.  Is there a way to make this easier?

2) Since there are planets that are described as "cannot colonize...due to the hostile culture..." can't these be colonized ever?

3) How do you extract from asteroids that are within an unplaneted well? LEVs cannot go there!

4) Why do some lanes have another color? some half of the way only?

Sorry for these but i really love to learn how to play properly and intelligently. Right now i'm missing on these issues. Thank you for kind assistance.

1. Not that I've found, at least not without a mod, but I wouldn't suggest getting into that yet.

2. Yes, as long as there is no Culture Center in the gravity well, just leave a capital ship (they repel culture) in the system and wait until you can colonize it, or destroy whatever Culture Center nearby is spreading the culture, and again wait for culture to clear from the system.

3. For Advent, TEC, use a Colony Frigate, they have a Capture ability for neutral asteroids.  For Vasari, the Scout Frigates have this ability.

4. The color of phase lanes represents the hostile culture, that is the reason you cannot colonize them, when the color in phase lanes near the planet has receded to the planet you can colonize it.

Do you have a manual?? This is very helpful for explaining many of your Questions. I think you can download one somewhere on this site. Someone else may have more accurate info on this. Anyway! 1) I think you can toggle this ability on your main interface control it appears in the lower right hand corner.

2) the cannot colonize due to hostile culture only lasts temperarily make sure you have gotten rid of all enemy structures around the planet. I think the higher the planets aleigance to the former owners, the longer the time before it is recolonisable.

3)Just send your coloniser frigate (Protev) to that G. well.

4)the colours represent how far a particular culture extends. The higher culture in that area the further its colour will extend.

Hope that helps you some.
