Dark Background

The background colors of the solar system vary, but sometimes they are so dark I can barely see the ships when they duke it out or even see the phase lines and gravity rings around planets. I've tried gamma correction, but that completely washes out the info screens to make dark background have enough contrast to see what is going on.

Are there other options so I can select the lighter blue or red solar system backgrounds? Or am I stuck jacking the gamma correction way up when I get a black background/no nebula colors?

Options > Effects > Show Colored Skyboxes

Uncheck and recheck that to cause the backgrounds to switch.

Thats odd, I find that the colored background makes it harder for me to see my ships. Maybe your monitor or some other setting is effecting this.

 

Otherise, Kitkun's method should solve the problem.

You can also try moving you view point so there is something in the back ground for contrast, I find a stars corona works the best.
