Text to speech in games?

We all know our gps can say street names...why can't games do the same? In an Sins game your ship names would be pronounced,in an rpg your character, etc....processing power?

System resources partly. Anything in which you name something yourself, partly because somebody will name things something unpronouncable.

Look at Mass Effect. Loads of speech.

But yet Microsoft sam can pronounce anything...... I still do not see a problem wtih hi suggestion other then processing power.

Unless Microsoft Sam has been improved by a lot, I don't want to be hearing that in every game.

Also, those who name stuff '****head' would be amused, and I can't agree to that.

I'm not denying that. I'd love that.

I'm just saying that some name or other will end up sounding really wierd when you let the player name it.

Of course it would sound somewhat weird. that would be expected. but if it were finaly implamented into a game it would catytch on and then the improvements would be rolling out.
