Blacklist of Players

This is a list of screennames on ICO that either are inept at being team players, are completely rude, won't quit after the game is clearly decided and just stays in it to make you spend an hour of your life spamming siege frigates, or incapable of finishing a game (i.e., disconnect, minidump, quit when they lose 1 of their many caps, etc).  This list is by no means complete, so just list your blacklist in the thread and I will add as appropriate.

In no specific order:

  • Bksabath  - Either doesn't speak English or doesn't know how to use chat.  In either case, he doesn't know how to play as a team.  If you go head to head with him, he plays ok though.
  • SnoopDaggo - Spread rumors about [_] that can't possibly be true.  Other than that, you can play with him.
  • IG-87 - Won't quit after being clearly defeated.
  • chaostheory - Isn't as good as record suggests, and disconnects often
  • Exo Geni Co. - This dude has like 300+ games played, but you would never know it playing him
  • itsmavic - Weird behavior, odd tactics, and won't quit when the game is clearly over.
  • MySins - won't quit even when there is no chance in winning.
  • CiniX - won't quit, even when he doesn't have a single ship or planet.  Makes you kill every AI planet.

Are you saying that they quit games before they've been decided, dicking over their teammates?

Shouldn't there be a trial before conviction?

Wow, i can't believe you actually 'compiled' this for a video game that doesn't have a huge mulitplayer community.  Even if it did, it still is a bit overreacting...

Like the biggest thing you should do is like kick them out of clans if they were in the same clan...

Actualy i think it works better if there is a small comunity for this. If you make a comunity large enough about 30-45% of people are like hat I find so theres no pointing them out cause theres pleny more to fill the gap. *Cough Warcraft 3 Cough*

He would not leave game more than an hour past him being killed completely and his partners quitting.  I had to stay and kill off all of the AI's stuff.  He waited around talking crap while I mopped up.

Yes.  Even if you have "lost", it doesn't mean you can't help your team by putting up a really good defense or feeding them until your HW is vaporized.

Ok, tell me if I have a point here.

These people your blacklisting can simply create a new username and act like total pricks all over again. So theoreticaly you could have the same person 10 times on your list, thus rendering its effective potential useless.

And no I'm not one of these people who leaves early, I stay until the end going down in a ball of firey death. (Usually because my "Teammate" doesn't wan't to play as his ass is getting raped sideways.)

Now I'm terrified to try a team game 8C   I'm sure I'll be "inept" my first several game. . .  Better put me on that list in advance ;)

That's not the point of this list.  If your record is 0-0, tehn we expect you to suck.  However, if you have 200 games under your belt, and still suck, people ought to know.

While true, you won't be misled by a record that makes them look like a good player.  For instance, BKsabath has a crazy number of wins, but sucks at team playing.  He doesn't even talk to you.  He'll be in the pocket, he'll go eco, and will just horde his stash while you get raped by a 3v1 (not that I'm talking from personnal experience or anything).

I'd like to see a blacklist of clans who get their rocks off beating the living snot out of a casual group on multiplayer who have never even played together before.  I mean, a minute into the game you get a coordinated attack from all clan members at once, while your "team" has barely even had time to introduce itself to one another.  This sort of thing is almost always accompanied by a bunch of trash-talk as well, screaming "newb!" at you with a bunch of cursewords thrown in to boot.  It's sort of like getting your jollies by beating the crap out of a cripple.  I mean, why don't these a-holes just go and play another clan?  Don't they want a challenge?

The best thing to do when you realize you are in the situation above is to INSTANTLY quit, along with all of your teammates.  Then the "getting their jollies" factor is much harder to achieve for them.

IMHO.... Mulitplayer is full of assholes. You might as well add everyones name. Im sure everyone has pissed someone off. :annoyed:

Im off my milkbox again.:moo:

Agent of Khamara:  Would'nt they put YOU on this black-list if you just up and quit like that?

And was'nt that Snoop guy that's in the list the one that was trying to warn others about a clan that constantly pauses the game for 90 mins if they are loosing?  Why is he on the list?

This blacklist thing is a bit scary. . .

Sounds reminiscent of my "Sore Losers Who Refuse to Quit" thread.

It's not about the suckage though, it's about behavior that dicks over your team--like quititng when the game is still competitive and has yet to be decided.

Do I need to get a beating stick out???  MUST I REPEAT FOR THE THRID TIME.  NO MATTER WHO PAUSES A GAME, ANYONE CAN UNPAUSE IT.  Also, you only get 10 pauses for everyone.  That post Snoop posted was absurd, he was probably drunk.

Glad my name is not up there :) There are a number of other people who do similar stuff (quit etc...), but since they have many less games, it is not held against them as much. Experienced players are expected to understand somethign of the etiquette and expectations of the other players in a skilled game.

An example of something a less experienced player then those above did to me recently is that they went AFK for a bit, come back and found they have lost a lot of their fleet and quit (they left their fleet attacking an enemy world). They don't stop and go - wait - I have a lot of credits resouces to either rebuild my fleet or give resources etc... to me before they quit... They just left and opened a hole in the lines.

The main thing to remember here is that How is not having a go at new players not being able to stand up against veterens - that is expected and he knows they will get better from experience. He is complaining about people with a lot of game time that should know the game, game mechanics and a fair number of the players online upping and leaving, thereby unbalancing a game.

When playing a game with a large number of skilled players, losing one of them and getting an AI replacement is a BIG disadvantage (as opposed to a newb where the AI is often an improvement). Losing that ally on a flank (even if they are losing) when they are a reasonable player is a killer blow as it allows the other team to attack that flank. Quite often, the losing player just needs to hold long enough for support to arrive. However the following occurs if they quit:

1) The AIs won't co-operate as a human would and sacrafice their fleet to hold a flank while they are reinfocred. The AI pulls back, letting the opposition through the choke point.

2) The extra time a human would take delaying the opposition is often the difference between your team being able to respond and support you (even if you are down to your home world) vs steam rolling the AI and into their flanks... Even holding them for 5 minutes extra can be enough for an ally to kill another player and come support you, as opposed to them having to face the bigger threat, thereby letting the almost dead player back into the game.

I've only tried 1 team game (it got de-synked or something), but about 9 1v1 games, so never really had to deal with all the team aspects.  When I was losing, I would always say "I surrender but would you like me to fight to the end, or hit the surrender key"?.  If I was winning, well, I was afriad to say anything; I would want to say "feel free to surrender", or something like that, but man, that sounds so arrogant; but I don't want the guy playing an extra hour+ just cause he thinks it might upset me if he quit.

I guess that's why Lan is so great; my friend pounds down his beer and says "I give up A-hole"; we laugh, and start another game. . .

SnoopDaggo quit in a game I was in, not sure if it was a crash or what. It could have been minidump :/

Guys add Colidence to black list hes a gay homo who stays in game when we wipe it out then does some crap so u dont get ten win NEVER PLAY WITH HIM

Good thing I don't multiplayer much,

Instead of doing a "blacklist" of players. How about doing a player referral list instead?

Simply because they don't get along with you doesn't meen they won't get along with anyone else.

*Edit*

Made a post for player referrals.

Is there a blacklist for people that use Neo-Nazi; KKK; White Supremist; Talaban language?  Better put Ballz at the top of that list. . .

Mods, I request a shut down of this link please (and everyone can thank Ballz for that).

Welcome to online gaming, ultimately it's the users computer and they are free to use their property as they please -- I hate it too but c’est la vie.

Guys, I have to agree on that. A blacklist of players? Man, that's rather... tasteless. You don't even know why those guys quit. Perhaps they have been unfair, stupid quitters. On the other hand, they might just had a minidump or decided sth is more important than a couple of minutes online...
