That is a rather nice design there, Akkan. I like designs with lots of edges, although the ancient ship Aurora (?) design was VERY nicely detailed.
A small aside for the SW vs. ST guys: There's other threads dedicated to SW vs. ST theorizing. I suggest you move it to there; life's too short for this thread to turn into that. (There's 39 million and counting hits on Star Wars Trek vs on google. Personally, any such comparison would be decided by plot, not throwing around doubtfully-calculated numbers.
Anyway, back on topic:
I would like to call your attention to the Renegade Legion: Leviathan board game - it is about space combat. (Interceptor -> fighters, Leviathan -> capital ships, crusader -> ground combat, and Prefect -> system invasions.). All interconnected to some extent - you could fight out the battles in Prefect by using the other games.
I did like the Shiva Battleship design, but that's not what I'm thinking about, really - rather, how I *thought* it looked before they showed something other than the side view.
As we all know, one of the best basics for art is association. For starships, marine life would be a decent inspiration, and if you want an evil, cold, dangerous looking ship, you could hardly go wrong thinking of a ship inspired by a shark. Not a 'shark in space', just slight design features implying the same grace and danger.
Either that, or lots of sharp edges and pointy stuff. That works too.
(As chimp's last design shows.).
But while large battleships are cool, my personal favourite would be a luxury yacht. One that I could see the wonders of the galaxy in.. assuming we were in a reality where there is a lot of interesting stuff out there.
