How exsactly do orbatal refineries work?

I have read the manual but i still dont understand how orbatal refineries work.

Could you pleas exsplain it pleas? Thanks in advance.

They send refinery ships to nearby resource asteroids (Within one jump) to boost metal and crystal production.

so if i build more refineries on one plane they will further increase it?

there is a limit of refinieries for each extractor. You can see this by putting a cursor over the extractor. Regular extractors support up to 3 refineries, neutral ones up to 4.
