question about fleet size

How do you have all these large fleets. I have just started playing and i can't have more than like 10 ships total to go along with the 2 capital ships I make.

Do you have to complete those accomplishments? Or do you not worry about working up the different skill levels? Or do you not worry about building bunch of stuff around your planets? Or what can I be overlooking to increase my fleet size? And yes I do have fleet size set to large in the options. What do you have to do to increase your fleet size? I have been using TEC if that helps.

Thanks for any info in advance.

In your research screen click on "Fleet". It will allow you to research upgrades that increase your max fleet points and capital ship crews. It's progressive, so you start from the smallest and work your way up.

You need to purchase fleet logistics upgrades.  These will increase the maximum size of your fleet.  You'll find them in the science menu (the beaker button at the top center of the screen) under fleet logistics.

Page 36 of the manual, by the way.

Woah! Anyone have a chill pill? The manual is actually pretty confusing. I've spent forever looking for things and kept looking over them. No need to grill the guy. This is what the forums are for.

I don't think the manual is confusing, just poorly organized and often sparse on details.  The information in question is in there, and quite clearly stated, but you'd probably need to read the manual page-by-page to find what you were looking for if you didn't know where to look, and that's boring.

Boring?!? :omg: I read the manuals like 5 or 6 times and just for background info. And another 10x times for useful stuff.

I feel like a nerd now.^_^

The flavour text for factions and units is interesting, I will admit that (we're all nerds here, I suspect), but it's not actually relevent information for the game.  The useful info (like fleet logistics) isn't anywhere near as interesting as the background info.

Wait! I would like to state the defence that I am not even close to being a nerd. For this defence to work I ask you all to please avert your eyes away from my avatar of Dante from the Devil May Cry anime.

And by the way, here is a smilie of the moon. Enjoy :moon:

Hence the RTFM statement. If you WERE a nerd, you wouldn't need to be told....

BTW - I assume you did do the tutorials???

It was confusing for me in the beginning too. Then i noticed the "do more research in fleet logistics" message and i thought there had to be a fleet research tree somewhere. The best bet was looking in the research panel, and found it :P

There is a help link in Impulse. But that is for Impulse. These forums are the online manual. Ways to learn are:

1) Read forums

2) Do tutes

3) Play some SP

4) Go to MP, make sure they know you are new and get someone to teach you if they will take the time - if you get on during a quiet time, you may find a more experienced person to play you 1v1. They will totally crush you, but will at least explain what you are doing wrong/how they did it so you learn (hopefullly). You won't learn much in larger XvX games though. Otherwise, find one people to play comp stomp and hope someone there can also give you some tips.

ok thanks for help.

Now I'm getting better. I was able to win 2 games against 1 opponent, learning how to use Vasari mainly...and I'm far from managing everything correctly. Now I try Advent, and I'll finish by TEC

My best memory was an awful operation with my armada of 6 capital ships on a single starbase...I lost 4 of my capital ships and I preferred to reload...now I know what is the power of a starbase..:):)

One question : I read that entrenchment should bring a solo adventure. I've installed it but I'm unable to find the solo adventure is it normal?
