AI teleport anywhere?

they were on one of my planets attacking me when my fleet arrived, all the sudden they did a "purple" jump away from the middle of the gravity well....they were TEC if that has anything to do with it but i can't seem to find that in their tree...is this a way of making hte AI harder or something else

Was there a phase line between the two planets?  Maybe they were greatly displaced on the z-axis, so what looked like a jump from the middle of the well was actually at an edge on the z-axis, which would have appeared to be within the gravwell from the top-down x,y axis.

No, there is no magic teleport ability.  There is no other way to tell what happened unless you have a replay (not that I have any  luck in playing replays in 1.12, they are brokenish).

There is no secret to fighting Unfair Vasari.  It is the same as fighting Hard Vasari, just requires 33% more skill.   You just need to dig for posts teaching you how to play your race of choice better.

I've seen some weird jump behavior in the past, but I've never seen the exact same bug twice.  I'd just chock it up to random glitchiness.  It happens, but not very often.

THe Vasari have a Gravity Tolerance research which lets them jump from deeper into the grav well, but only maybe a half inch total on planet level (hit caps lock).  this would let them appear to be well within the well, yet still jumping.

The Vasari phase jump ability is neither sudden, nor can it be used anywhere near the middle of a gravity well.  Unless he's exaggerating significantly on both counts, the gravity tolerance upgrade doesn't explain this at all.

then again, the middle of the grav well is usually occupied by a large (comparatively) planetoid.

If someone says "middle" they obviously don't mean right on top of the planet, but they wouldn't use that to describe something that was anywhere near the edge of the gravity well.  Gravity Tolerance gives you some nice extra range, but as I said he'd have to be thoroughly exaggerating for that to be a viable explanation.  Also, rereading the original post, it appears this bug occurred with the TEC, so gravity tolerance couldn't have been a factor.
