[Temp fix]Repeated constant crashing with new Beta 2 update.

I got my hands on Beta 2 today and spent all afternoon playing a 4 player FFA, me against 3 AIs.

I have all of my graphics set to highest running 1360*768 with 4x AA

Specs are

Vista Home Premium 64bit

Intel core 2 duo overclocked at 3.08Ghz

4 GB RAM

Radeon 4870 video card

Asus Xonar D2X sound card

Beta 2 actually has great performance compared to beta 1, no slowdown or stuttering issues anymore in large battles/long games. But after a while of play I got a crash, probably about 30 minutes into the game, I think I was autosave 3 or 4, i don't remember for sure. I relaunched the game and kept going by reloading the last autosave. played some more and it crashed again, repeat, crashed again, repeat. maybe about 5 times so far. This last time, its obviously getting more frequent. I crashed in about 10 minutes or relaunching the game and playing me save file. So the next time, (just before I gave up and came here to report, it had crashed in about 1-2 minutes from reloading the game.

If you want, I can upload the save file and crash dump. but I don't know where the crash dumps are stored. any help?

Check to see if lowering the graphics helps.

Make sure the video driver is up to date.

I just noticed that ATI has just released a new driver dated today. The previous one was from december 2008, but we'll see if the new one helps. If it continues to crash, ill see if lowering settings does anything.

Same problem, system specs:

Vista 64 Home Premium

ATI 4870x2

8GB Ram

Intel Quad Core Extreme

Reduce your graphics settings (primarily texture detail) until the problem goes away. We're getting a lot of these crashes reported and its due to running out of video memory or overloading the graphics driver. We still have a fair bit of optimization to do so the temp fix is to simply reduce your graphic settings. Come final, you should be able to bump them up again.

i set everything to medium and haven't crashed yet after at least an hour of continuous playtime.

Has some tested what detail levels work with 128, 256, 320, 512, 768 or 1024 megabytes of gpu-ram?

I used to play with highest detail on my macbook pro nvidia 8600m gt card with 256 mb. The game crashed all times after 1 to 10 minutes. Is it possible to play in high detail? Or do I have to reduce to medium details?

Thx for the advises.

well, I crashed once, in a vasari game. hard to say how long I player, about an hour or so I'd say. I did play a tec game quite fine. one session was about 30 minutes, the other almost an hour I'd say. in the crash I had no warning I could see (though I have the reflex of clicking away all warnings). had all options in highest, so that probably is the problem. only have a 2600XT, which has 256 I think. not too great.

Hmm... I suppose me stating I that I haven't crashed once yet doesn't help much? -_-   I think the current 6 player FFA game I got running... hmm.. close to my 6th hour now.... I enjoy taking my time too much. And I got a worse computer then the OP guy and running at higher graphics. ^_^'

When Entrenchment came out. I upgraded my gpu to a ati 4670 w/ a gig of ddr3 mem. It depends on the fighter mine spam as to how long it lasts. On all highest Im getting a little over four hours of play time b4 a crash. So I don't see it often cause I only play about half that at one sitting without a break or a save restart.
