[Temp Fix]:( Solar Empire Beta 2

Hi,

Solar Empire is a wonderful game, i really like it, but im afraid i cant keep the beta 2 on my computer until it quits crashing. I think the new graphics are nice, and the update on the starbase, but i really havent seen the new base yet, since about 5 min in it crashes, i lowered the settings to low as everyone says, but it still crashes.    :(

Ive rebooted about a half a dozen times, and it doesnt make any difference, still crashing.  :(

I guess i will go back to 1.13 now and wait, thank you for the update, but it reallly really isnt ready.

Better to wait and not have crashes.

Sorry to sound bad, its just ... well... better to wait is all.

Sorry, take care,

-Teal

99% of crashes by having your graphics settings too high (esp texture detail). We still have to optimize it. Knock the values down and you should be able to play fine. You will likely be able to bring them back up by final.

Thank you Blair for the nice response, it was nice of you to respond so quick. I have set the video properties to low for all the settings, for buildings, planets, ships, etc... but im still getting the crashes. It is probably vista. I am running at about 1680 resolution, and that may of course be my fault and need to turn it down to say 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768 and leave the graphics at low and see what happens.

I have already gone back to 1.12 but am having impulse not see it, and the uninstall error of 28,8 for the html page. So i will uninstall and clear the folders and try to install & update again from scratch, which i dont mind, im just trying to get it to work. Sorry to have you deal with my shortcomings in understanding all this, but i appreciate it. Take care and i will post back with news.

Take care and thank you and the team again for all the work, i dont want to sound unappreciative, im just not as technically inclined as some people.

Sincerely,

-Teal

I have the same problem. Everything is low as it can go but it still crashes.

I have the same issue...

E8500

8GB ram

gfx 280

after five minutes in the game (approximately...sometimes it holds for six, sometime after ten...), minidump error pops up and the game crashes...when i check my event log (windows vista 64bit), direct x .dll problem can be seen at the exact time. I reinstalled direct x (newest available version directly from microsoft), installed newest nvidia drivers but without any effect.

Maybe there could be a problem with my viewing setup...i have a gfx280 for my main screen (lcd display) and a second graphics card in the second pci-e slot (nvidia 8500GT) for my lct tv which is set up as a secondary display. I didn't have enough time and patience to try to remove one of the cards and try it with only one display running though...

Not only the graphics menu (I believe) but the effects part of the game....those should not be on highest.
