About the multiple banks multiple targeting system...

Perhaps too complex, but another addition to it...

Instead of all cap ships & starbases being only able to hit any given enemy with only one 'weapon targeting slot' from an given weapons bank, perhaps some cap ships- those designed for toe-to-toe duels, like battleships and battlecruisers should be allowed to target all of their weapons banks on a single target, if you force-fire or manually target the enemy.

Thus it could increase their role as a spearhead in your fleet formation.

Just my 2 cents.

Any thoughts? Comments?

But all of the targets receive 100% of the bank's damage, so this wouldn't do anything.. can't do more any more damage than that :P

Annatar's right. What you're suggesting is the ship have one bank that does 3 or 4 times more damage. :)

The bank change can make starbases (and caps that use it) strong againts bigger fleets of little ships. It's not meant to make one ship that can blow away another capital ship in ten seconds.

which is not to say that the idea of a capship with just one weapon capable of firing on one target, but with high damage is bad. sort of a capship/ starbase killer. though with the firing arc, the dreadnaughts could be considered such, maybe a light version.

Well the capitals are not heavily affected by this change. The primary weapon (Kol's beams, for example) still just hits one target only. I haven't actually converted the new files to see if capitals' secondary/tertiary banks have additional targets, though.

I've seen the Kol hitting 3 targets at once.

No, I think he means with the other weapons mounted on the side of the Kol.  The beam only hits one target(Sidebar:  I still think the Beam doesn't do enough damage for how its attack looks...down the laser damage on the Kol and up the beam damage, so its not just a lightshow).

Okay, so at least I'm not crazy :P The beams are actually the Kol's most damaging weapon. The infocard lists it as the Autocannon, but that's both banks combined - each bank on its own does less than the beam. Marza is still the king of single-target damage, though :P

I'm rather assuming it's TargetCountPerBank:. However, it appears that this is not weapon specific, but rather affects all weapons on that arc since there's only one set of those in the file, and they come after all the other weapon's data.

The Kol's are all set to one. Argonev is set to four.

Aww, it sounded like it was per weapon from the change log. That would've been pretty cool.
