Sins mini-mod Idea

Sins mini-mod Idea

I think the time it takes for a ship to die is rather unrealistic. I understand that ships have sheilds and all butwhen you are in the beginning of the game, when you only have enough credits for only a handful of ships, one-on-one battle between them can get annoyingly long. the amount of fire a ship can absorb seems way too much. Weapons should be strengthened or hull weakend on all ships, but the sheilds can be kept the way they are. Once the weapons get past the ships shields, then they become deadly, they should be able to destroy the ship in only a few hits. Defensive weapons should be more powerfuls, so they can actually defend a planet from a couple of seige ships.

I fully sgree with you dear sir!!!

I always pictured ships only being capable of withstanding several hits before ultimately getting shot down (sigh for Pegasus in BSG).

Having a scout take it up to a cap ship for at least 5 mins before it is destroyed is too much!!!

you can change these files yourself as i ddi in the gameinfo file uner Capitalship_***** race and ship name**** as well as Fighter for the planes and Frigate for the smaller ships recommend that you make a back up file when ever you do things like this just for yourself.  But just change the hull points to what you feel you want myself i lowerd them all to under 500 for frigs under 50 for fighters and not over 1500 for the caps but i also raised there sheild points.

note "open the files in notpad but dont change them into a txt file keep them as a ENITITY file"

hope that helped

Thanks, and is there a way to disable the "hud" thing for videos?

and are the files you're talking about in the Gameinfo folder and have the .entity extention?

1) to take away the hud..enable cinematic mode in game (top left icon)

2) YES!

To further remove the HUD (Best done after enabling cinematic mode) press Ctrl-Shift-Z.

Notepad, Notepad++, or Sins Editor.

Tech = TEC, Psi = Advent, Phase = Vasari.

I edited a .entity file, so how do I save as .entity file? I can only save as .txt

how do I use this convertdata tool thing. btw i have vista so the file locations are different i think.

File locations are identical and as to converting it back you either use a converter (the one given in the LINK ABOVE!!!!) or simply leave it as text...itll still work like a charm!

I think there should be a mod with the beta 1 ships in it. i tolaly agree with the point that ships take to long to get taken down.

woot! i got it working, but somethings wrong.

ok I halved evey single ship's hull points for all fractions, including capital ships.

now the second a scout frigate, or any other ship, gets destroyed, it causes a minidump.

I put the edited files into a folder in the mod directory, I can load them fine.

If I try to replace the actualll game files in the game directory, The mod doesnt work, ships have normal health.

I feel like I missed something, if you want to change a ship's hp, do just edit the entity file for that ship, or is there something else you need to do?

Something Im toying with to help accomplish a similar goal is modifying shield mitigation.  I am removing shields entirely and setting maxMitigation to varying amounts for different ships.  Damage reduction decreases (as opposed to increases) as the ships take damage leading to shorter life spans of the ship.  And extremely short life span once mitigation hits 0.  Might be worth looking into rather than just base hull reduction.

As for editing the HP just change the number afterMaxHullPoints and MaxShieldPoints in the .entity file has been working for me with no problems.  Do the verions of the files and game/developer.exe match up?

Ill look but now i cant because I had to re-installl the game cuz i skrewed something up and now it says that ConvertData.exe hase encountered a problem and needs to close. my I cant convert files anymore.

and is the most recent version of the game 1.05 or 1.13?
