Better explain "banks"

Better explain "banks"

I get the basic idea that say if bank one can shoot 3 targets each target will get 100% of the damage.  But what exactly is a bank? Is there a way to know how many targets there are per bank?  For the sake of making it easier, lets use the Kol.

I thought flak frigates could hit mulitple targets as well.

So right now each weapon bank attacks 1 target?  (in the case of the Kol that would be 4 targets?)

Flaks can hit multiples, but that's because their sides have firing points as well (most other frigates except the Illuminator is front-only). But they still only have 1 target per side.

The Kol's autocannons can hit up to 4 targets, since it has firing points on all 4 sides. Its beams can hit 1 and I think its lasers are front-only also, so 1.

yes, but from what I understand, the flak frigs have different banks - one at front, back, left, right each- that can fire on one traget only each. the starbases on the other hand also have different banks, but these banks can and do fire on more than 1 target each. that is the difference I believe.

so each side is a bank. so four banks. i0f a bank can attack 3 targets. if the damage is 10 per target for each target, if attacking 1 target, will it only take 10 or will it take 30? im guessing 10 so attacking multiple units is benefit

You are correct :P It will be 10 in that example.
