I noticed some others were having difficulties with Beta 2 of Entrenchment so I decided to post my own experience with the update.
I used to have Vista 32-bit and originally I could run Sins and Entrenchment with SLI 8800GTX cards with no issues whatsoever. However I upgraded to 64-bit Vista recently and SLI would not work anymore without locking up about 5 min into the game. (Note this was running Sins with all settings maxed out both on 32-bit and 64-bit Vista). Solution was to Disable SLI for 64-bit, and all worked fine after that.
After installing the Sins 1.13 Update installed Beta 2 for Entrenchment. Started game and it kept locking up again with SLI 8800GTX Cards. Disabled SLI but would still lock up about 5 min into game, or after building 1 cap ship and 10 frigates. Always seemed to happen around this point in the building process.
After countless tries and not being able to get it to work I came online to check the forums for a solution. Read that somebody had said to verify the installs. I did this and it said both Sins and Entrenchment were improperly installed. I got the updates and reinstalled still both said were not installed correctly.
Finally I decided to uninstall both Sins and Entrenchment. Problem is I can't uninstall Entrenchment through Impulse with out getting some sort of XML error. I was able to uninstall Sins and had to download 772 meg plus to reinstall it again. Now Sins shows as correctly installed but Entrenchment still says its not installed correcctly.
I also turned down all the graphics from Highest to High and now can run in SLI mode without any issues whatsoever.
My questions are, 1) If everything is working fine now using settings at High, does it matter that Entrenchment is saying its not installed correctly if I verify it? 2) Will the error be fixed in the final release that allows an actual uninstall of Entrenchment without the xml error?
Being a perfectionist I like all my stuff to work and install in an orderly manner lol.
So I thought of uninstalling Sins and manually uninstalling Entrenchment and try from scratch to re-install Entrenchment to get rid of that bad install error. However everything seems to be running fine now so I dont think its worth the trouble. Is this just part of a bug in Beta 2 or should I acutally go for a full reinstall? Does anyone else have a verified correct install of Entrenchment on 64-bit Vista?
