More or less it remembers the highest level capital ship of yours that got destroyed, and whenever you build a new capital you can zap it with the ability to get it to that level. So if you lose a level 10 capital, you can build a new one and zap it for instant level 10 replacement.

Really?  That's kinda cool. I always thought it had to be in the area where the cap ship died as well as a new cap ship.   Does it have to be in the area where the cap ship was destroyed?

I'm pretty sure it does have to be in the same grav well as the destroyed ship to pick up its level, yes. But I'm not saying this with 100% certainty, it has been ages since I used the ability (not that I never lose ships, I just don't play Advent that much :P). Once it stores the level though it keeps it until the ability is used, or until it picks up a higher level. So the target capital doesn't have to be there immediately.

Hrm :P

Step 1: Get a Progenitor with the ability.

Step 2: Get a level 10 capital ship blown up while the Progenitor is in the gravity well

Step 3: Build a new capital.

Step 4: Use Resurrection on the new capital.

Step 5: Pick abilities for your new level 10 capital.

Step 6: Repeat as needed ;)

It sucks cause u can't use it on allied caps. If you COULD then it would be awesome. As is, it's a waste of skill point in an MP game.

Wait, why?  A level 10 capital saved is a level 10 capital saved, right?

That means u need a lvl 10 cap ship and a level 6 cap ship right?  Now why would they kill your level 10 cap ship if you have a level 6 cap ship around?

Well, this ability can still be used even if the cap that died wasn't level 10.  It still saves you thousands of credits to promote a level 1 directly to level 3 using this method rather than the conventional upgrades.  Chances are, however, that your mothership is the top target among your high level caps, so you won't get an opportunity to use it, ironically.

By late game, I usually bring out transcendance for Advent, so level 4 is a freebee and it's not hard to get caps to level 6.

I think the dead crew pool is ship specific.

If your level X Radiance blows up you can only resurrect another Radiance to level X. All the dead crews are stored and resurrectable but you have to build the same caps that died to get the benefits of Resurrection.

Can someone confirm this?

Considering a good strategy for late game Advent is to use many capital ships, some losses are inevitable.  Nothing wrong with being able to turn a new level 1 replacement back into the level of the lost ship...even if it is just 6 or 7, it can be a huge advantage.

:)  sounds awesome!!!   I play advent alot, but i never knew how to use that ability. Is there an ability chart or breakout showing what does what?  Such as a Wiki?  Or a detailed manual online, pdf maybe?

Sorry for so many questions, it is just very nice to know, instead of discovering it 6 months after i got the game  haha  :)

The Progenitor doesn't need to be in the same well when the ship in question dies, and you don't need to resurrect in the same well, either.

At least, that's what I remember.

I was under the impression it stored the levels of all of your destroyed capitals-so say you lose a 4 and a 6, and you use resurrection to promote a 1 to a 6.  Then you could use it again to promote a 1 to a 4.

So, of course, as I was testing all this, I got a minidump.

And, apparently, 2.5 is up.

:)

Yeah like I said I haven't messed around with Resurrection for months, so I don't remember the exact details :P It's the principle, though!

And you were only about 12 hours late on 2.5 :P

Any idea if destroyed capital ship levels are stored before you level Resurrection? I often don't bother leveling it until level 10, but if it doesn't start "remembering" until you put a point into it I may change that.

Yes, It remembers the levels of all the cap ships you've lost, even before you get ability.

Because maybe that cap ship is somewhere else?  Maybe it escaped?  I didn't realize you had to keep all your cap ships in one place.
