can someone clear this up for me?

Nobody knows Chances are they are working on something in secret. They haven't publically confirmed or denied adding the new race, but we also don't know anything about the 3rd upcoming micro expansion, or their new separate game..

Oh figures you'd be the one to post it.

It's a good mystery, but the big problem (story-wise) is that if this unknown alien faction could annihilate like 90% of the Vasari armada with ease and send them running into the depths of space, I don't exactly hold up much hope for humanity being able to do jack shit against them, either.

Which is probably why they haven't said "Yes it'll be a new race!".

They did previously say that they wanted to finish telling the story, so even though it may not make it into a playable faction or whatever, I have a feeling eventually we'll find out what they are.

I always envision that if the story is infact played out, we might eventually see a temporary alliance among the current races storywise, driven by desparation against such an overwhelming foe. Wouldn't exacly be original if that is infact going to be the case, but hey! its good story...

Some good stuff.

Although the whole vasari thing reminds me of Star Control, and most recently Mass Effect, I won't ruin it for anyone but I thought they had great stories. 

Personally, I like it better having something "unknown".. maybe they'll introduce a single player storymode, that would be neat.
