ok so I bought the game about a year ago and have played it alot and enjoyed it. however i lost the cd so I downloaded the game off of impulse but now when i run it i get a black background and i don't know what could be the problem. i can't seem to find a solution but ive tried a few things that haven't worked
Did you accidentally install Entrenchment (beta)?
Also, did you change anything on your comp?
have you tried holding the "S" key down it tells the debug window to "S"kip the error message window that is also black

the thing is it works just find the menus even come up its just the 3d models and enviorment don't show up
have you changed the video drivers, or changed the video card?
in my computers on geforce 7+ cards I am using 181.22 with no problems,on my ati computers I am using catalyst 9.1 also no problems.
also you could try updating the video card drivers to the version that I am using.

the thing is though it worked before i had my computer fixed and i can confirm the graphics card was not changed
before we had it fixed we had this black screen come up every time we restared the computer asking us how we wanted to start windows after we had it fixed it was gone. we were using xp before hand and still are but we lost all are files and programs.
have you tried explorer into the documents & settings folder with hide folders unticked?
if there is no sign of the old user names then they did a format install, but if the old user names are there then the documents should be under the old my documents, and they did a delete install
