I think that there should be more varriations of ships, structures, infintry, and a kind of arttilery batteries on the planet that can bombard enemy ships within the gravity well instead of havving to rely on your Gauss Platforms or Beam Platforms or your Missle Platforms or your ships to protect your planet.
I like the game as is. Adding 1 or 2 ships per miniexpension is OK but up to a point. Once we hit a certain number of specialty frigates it will mean the game will either become unbarable or a lot fo em will never get used no matter how you slice it.
Also there is enough turtling coming in Entrenchment, probably too much, so anyone wanting more turtling strikes me a bit odd. If you want to just defend maybe play a different game.
I would love to see planets rotating around stars and moons around planets. This would mean phase lanes might break down if two planets are too far away and form anew once two planets come close to each other again. However -as far as I know_ this was supposed to be implemented from the beginning but it turned out to be a game breaker and fun killer. Sad...
I would like to see fleet formations which give certain advantages and disadvantages during battle. That would only make sense if the ships would really move and not just stop in space and slug it out. But this would lead to a redistribution of weapon systems as some ships have their weaponry only in the front. That in turn would mean rebalancing etc etc etc... It would be a major thing and most properly not worth the effort for a bit of eye candy...
In general I am more than happy with the game. I like the entrenchment beta and I am looking forward to the other expansion... ![]()
More people playing the game in online multiplayer would make it a better game...but it's only for brave masculine guys who've got a pair and not girly-men.
Are you purposely trying to piss people off now? ![]()
The upcoming diplomacy expansion should fix the rest of the shortcomings of this game (pirates and diplomacy, anything else is extra), and if the third one is a campaign, i'm one happy camper ![]()
I think Fuel And Ammo should be introduced into the game.
Ships need to refuel every hour of the game at the nearest planet, starbase, or supply ship. I belive this could add a different tactic into the game as fleets cannot go too far out from there planents without refueling, as this could mean that fleets who do not refuel, are likely to become less effcient in attacking and defending themselves. This could also mean that people who love to stick around once there planets have been destoryed and just like to waste peoples time, will slowly but surely come to a halt.
Ammo could also be introduced to allow cap ships to become more stronger when near plants or re-supply ships, as cap ships with more ammo will be allowed to hit there enemies with more 'boom' power. For example a marza can only fire its missle barrage once, until hes re-supplied near his plant or using a re-supply ship...
This could also be implemnted to fighters as well, so that people dont spam carriers without thinking wot they are going to do for 2 minutes while there strike craft are being resupplied?
What are your thoughts?
The only RTS game i've seen where units had ammo is World War 3 Black Gold (Available on Impulse BTW), there were helicopters that brought ammo for the tanks on the front. But Sins is about Epic Space Battles (Epic Carrier Spams on multiplayer, i hear), so i don't think that sort of extra micro would go too well for this game. BTW Homeworld had fuel, but evey ship above Frigate class had a rector, and didn't require refueling. (Of course the reactor requires something to run, but games don't need to be that realistic. Especially games about galactic empires :D)
Still doing your part to put people off going online I see, good job.
On topic; more factions. I want lots of different flavours to what I'm encountering in large single player games.
Between him and Dorian, i'm staying with my AI buddies too ![]()
Campaign mode for me.
I want to know exactly whats chasing the aliens perhaps add them as a new faction
Well I just looked at the mod with more appropriately sized(huge) planets, suns, and gas giants, and even Moons. WOW I did not know just how much cooler that would make the game.....but I would love to see those kinds of things added to SINS.

Fuel and Supply would be a great addition! But make it so it won't be a Paradox game where the game itself is micromanagement.. lol Let there be supply yards/depots to give combat bonsuses! to well-supplied fleets.
Oh ya did I mention the word: carrier spam? ... ok ok, I guess there is enough threads about that already.
Still doing your part to put people off going online I see, good job.
If my comment would "do its part to put people off going online" then those people merely prove my point.
If you feel that the boot fits...wear it with my compliments.
I think a better level of graphical realism or presentation is required, I personally would sacrifice the numbers of units and scale of the game for more detail regarding the individual ships and the motion of objects.
I would like to see SoaSE scale better on higher-end PC systems, I don't know if Impluse or SDC collects system spec information or posts a questionaire like Steam probably a good idea though...
The game is also lacking a proper single player campaign to draw you in, though thats a well trodden path not worth going over in too much detail.
If I were you, and I seriously wanted to get more people interested in logging on to play against other people, I would find a different figurehead for this campaign than yourself. You are doing yourself no favours.
Some people myself included, have no desire to play online. I hear that the scarcity of online players means I'm in the majority. We just like to play .........with....um ..ourselves. ![]()
It's more fun that way, the AI doesn't disconnect, spam or whine. It's a bit stupid, though, but it has gotten better at playing lately.
Three single player campaigns, similar to the three campaigns of Starcraft, Total Annihilation, Homeworld, or Supreme Commander. Each "level" of each campaign gets progressively more complicated and advanced, slowly marching the solo player through the tech tree, and introducing each subsequent new ship type and tech advances to help learn the capabilities of each ship in special circumstances that require the use of some specific aspect of the game (e.g. one mission is to build a colony on planets X and Y, and establish a trade route)...
Are you kidding? We all know the ships, tech tree, backwards and forward. Do you really want a "mission" to move your scout in search of planets?
Don't get me wrong, I always loved campaigns in games, but Sins in skirmish mode is a fresh and new adventure/story every time. You can use the map creator to make special circumstances. Instead of a campaign I would rather the devs focuse on making Sins deeper.
Got to be a solid single player campaign, maybe about the 'things' that are chasing the Vasari.
Some multiplayer stuff would be cool as well - but hell, I want it all!
Damage rules. 'Sins' ships are binary in one way (perfectly functioning, or destroyed), and weirdly organic in another (given time, they repair fully at no cost, no matter how damaged). No dead crew, no irreplaceable parts, no ammunition limits apparently. It would be interesting if there were derelicts essentially created by killing all the crew on board a ship; one could see possible research or intelligence benefits should one be able to board and thoroughly examine, in addition to the obvious salvage.
Logistics rules. Supply/ammunition modeling is fairly limited. Missiles, armor, et al should impose physical requirements. Maintenance should depend on actual ships in play and how much wear/tear they're on.
Economy. Option for finite resources meaning asteroids *run out*, thus adding impetus for expansion. Option for planets themselves to provide resources.
Order queueing: when queueing up multiple builds, don't charge for a build or upgrade until it's actually started. If it can't be paid for when it's supposed to start, pause it until it can be.
Standing orders. For fleets, designating a fleet's area of operations in which it will move to engage known enemy fleets (i.e. "if idle, and enemy fleet known in <any of certain marked areas> engage; return to post when done". In general, targeting preferences and 'auto-join fleet' prefeferences.
If we really want to be fancy, some research upgrades probably shouldn't be applied en masse for free. In other words, fleets and structures might need time/resources for the necessary refits. In such a case, it would be near-obligatory to reduce micromanagement by having a mass-retrofit cost and an 'automatically retrofit when applicable' toggle. This, combined with better damage/ordnance models, would help replicate one of the interesting aspects of space conquest as per some science fiction: if you're the aggressor, and your fleets have traveled far from home, not only do you need to conserve resources because your supply lines are long or non-existent but your target's technology may have had many years to advance during the time your fleet was in transit. Some things, like better programs for your computers, might be simple to implement, but if it's an entirely new type of armor or a new propulsion system, for instance, that shouldn't be instant and free.
I think most readers would realize that my comment about the game's being for guys who have a pair and not girly men was in jest. The term "girly men" itself is a dead giveaway that the comment was meant to be humorous. I suggest you turn down your sensitivity meter.
The reasons for playing online multiplayer are:
1. To have a greater challenge and more intense, meaningful games.
2. To be able to play as a member of a team with real human teammates.
3. Meet other people and enjoy their camraderie.
(4.) This isn't a reason for Sins but it should be. To discover new, excellent custom maps. In other games, such as FPS, where custom maps auto-download, the good ones get played online.
