So.... Will I be able to play in Highest Graphics without Crashing?!

Is it ready for Feb 25th?

What I would like to know is....

Will the game be fixed so I can set  the graphics back to highest settings (on everything) without minidumps when the "release" version comes out???

I have more than enough power in my system to handle Sins.

Just want to know if it's safe yet to try....

You should be able to do it now -- try it and find out!  That's the point of a beta!  If it isn't working now, they need to hear about it!

As far as I can tell, max graphics should work, but you need to try it on your system.

Max graphics should already be fixed (assuming you have the specs). Give it a shot.

My system is:

  • Q6600 3.0 GHz OC
  • GTX 280 OC
  • 780i Nforce
  • 4 GB DDR2

Now I think we can agree this should be able to handle it max settings right? Well I have noticed that as soon I as I add Blooming, everything starts to lag immediately, even from the very start.

But I gotta say I enjoy the little additions to the game, and I find it worth the small amount of cash I paid for it :) good job

Our systems are very close to each other there Sokar:

Windows Vista x64 Ultimate (yes all patches, service packs and whatnot)
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6400 2.4 Ghz
2 x 2 GB DDR2 Ram
Asus P5NT-Deluxe  nForce 780i (latest drivers)
Creative Audigy 2 (latest drivers, including the Daniel K fixed software/driver package)
Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS 640 MB DDR3 (latest drivers always...)

Can't get much faster than that.... guess I'll give it another shot.... it was just nice to play without crashing every 10-15 minutes... :S   hahaha.

I want guarantees!!! :|  But yes I love the game too, I have played this thing more than any other game I own... and keep coming back to it. Slow strategy games are the best... can't stand clickfest "realtime" strategy... there's no strategy, just how fast you can hotkey crap and roll out units.

Actually thats far from eachother if I can say so without sounding arrogant.

However I like to pay on big maps, the biggest often, with as many AI as possible. The lag I enounter isn't beyond playable, but I most assume that this is due to bad coding, and not cause of the hardware.

I got a minidump last night with graphics turned way up. Vista complained about a DEP error. I'll send the minidump when I get home.

I wish I had the money for a new i7 rig, I'm sure those beasts can run a gigantic map with 7 AIs. But my current Core 2 dup at 3.01Ghz is only a little more than a year old and it handles thing pretty well until all 100 planets have been colonized and everybody had a giant fleet. Then it makes playing the game a test of patience
