achievement recovery or saving

I understand very well that us beta users had to uninstall and reinstall Sins because of the beta.   I'm glad we could do what we did to progress the game's development, even if there is the set-back of having to reinstall.

But now I've lost all my achievements     X(

Truely I'm heart broken, because I worked very hard to get some of them.   This is intollerable.    There should be some sort of recovery or save process to keeping achievements if you uninstall the game.   This carries to if you have to just upgrade your computer or something and you want to keep it.   Perhaps if it were attached to your impulse ID or just in a save file.   I'm a completionist, and this is painful since I almost had them all.   For some reason I had assumed that uninstalling it wouldn't automatically take save files (or whatever they are saved in)

You may still have them. Check for the old achievements file in your sins settings folder (which shouldn't have been deleted). Send the file to [email protected] and we'll try and convert it to the new format for you.

ok...   I'm happy to hear I may have a chance to recover it.   Could you help me out on which file exactly, or should I just contact support?

You need the achievements.achievements file.

You find it under Windows XP in

C:\Documents and Settings\Your Username\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Setting\

Vista

C:\Users\Your Username\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Setting\

C:\ maybe different depending on which harddisk you installed the Operating System.

Renember you can always use the Search funtion to find the file.

Click on the desktop an empty space and press F3 to bring up the Search Window

I think that I'm going to do this, too. I finally got Space Ponies in the last beta (2.5), and it would suck to have to try to get it again...

EDIT: Nevermind. It turns out that even after uninstalling/reinstalling everything, I still have my achievments!

it... *sniff*   is an empty folder.   I'm running a search on my entire hard drive, just in case.

**update:  I think I found it!   I'm so happy  *hugs achievements*   but I can't figure out how to make them actually register.   I hope its the right file (rather than a new blank one created when I re-installed)

What?   I'm not sure what that has to do with achievements.   But ok, I'm glad to hear you make really hard custom maps.
