minidump

So I have deleted all old custom maps, and I am playing games without any vasari to speak of, let alone marauders (as I can't control what vasari AI do and do not build, I figured it prudent not to allow them to build anything). Still, about 20 minutes into the game I am getting this wierd mini-dump without apparent cause. Is seems that the time is the only similiar point of connection  between the crashes. Seeing as how 20-minute games aren't the most fullfilling of all, I think I will halt testing until this is resolved (not much I can add to the process at this point). One thing that I heard suggested somewhere else is that this may be connected to the second auto-save in the game -- that may be a possible lead.

I have 4 minidump files to share, though am not sure how to convey them. If anyone can tell me how to upload my minidumps for analysis, it would be much appreciated.

Best of luck crackin this one! For what it is worth, the listed improvements sound great (though i was kinda holding out hope for a lvl-8 tech upgrade granting more upgrade slots to SB's, to be honest), and from what I have played so far the difference in memory optimization is really really apparent. Great work so far, looking forward to the next patch already!

I'm having minidump problems as well, although mine doesn't seem to be time related. Played for about an hour last night with no problems, but then some lag and a minidump about 40 minutes in continuing the same game today.

You can send your minidump files to [email protected]

Other than the minidump, I like the new beta! Great work! I do kinda miss the old cobalt voices though! ;P

fyi: i sent in a minidump and saved game of me (vasari) vs. advent. Game would dump when there was a battle and was told from support that the advent laying down homing mines was causing the problem. Will be fixed in release.

Homing mines from AI advent players will definately cause crashes. It's been fixed here.

when you send  a mindump do you get some kind of confromation iron clad got it?

Yes you should get an email immediatly after sending.

you get an automated response and in some cases a real one too.

just for the record: the advent mine crash apparently also applies when playing against ai (it's what caused my crash of that other thread I made), so you might be careful and not use advent ais in this build. at least that's what I've been told.

or vasari - their marauders use an ability which causes known crashes in this build as well.. looks like we are all united in the effort to crush the trader's emergency coalition! :cylon: :borg:

I 'm blowing up an advent carrier and it mini-dumps everytime!

sending the mini-dumps now.

Also had a few mini dumps for just changing map list. ie to scan back and forth between small, medium, and large maps.

Well this should keep them busy for the weekend XO

My minidumps have nothing to do with any actions, they just happen a few minutes after reloading an autosave. It doesn't seem to happen with clean saves, but maybe I was lucky.

I have no clue about the Advent carrier explosion causing a minidump, but the map switching is related to having custom maps already on file.  You need to remove them from the directory where they're stashed:

XP - C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy

Vista - C:\Users\username\appdata (a hidden folder, so you need to select view hidden files from tools/folder options/view)\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy

*ALSO* Regardless of OS, make sure you remove any listing of the custom maps from your Galaxy folder in the root directory of your game (not everyone will have them listed there).

If you want to save your maps, keep them in a temporary folder until the final release on Wednesday, at which point there will be one Galaxy folder for vanilla Sins and one for Entrenchment.

According to the Ironclad dude the advent carrier didn't have anything to do with it. It just so happens that when I was blowing that up, a Vasari empire AI elswhere in the system was using their Subversion. Timed just right.

As far as the map change mini dumps...no wonder I didn't have any more problems after clearing out old saved maps yesterday

Well, I just managed my first full game on this beta, no mini dump at all. Was a large single map and I had AI of every race. I also had my graphics set to high this time around and it was fine. I am well impressed with this version, I just hope I don't see the same issus you guys are having.
