Have they Fixed it yet?

Well gents, I am at work now and reading the forums I see that they have now another Beta claiming to have fixed the desync and memory issues.  Now I am very sceptical if this because every time my friends and i have a LAN gathering at my house the 5 of us will play for hours only to end up eventually in our own desynced games or the almot inevitable minidumping.  So we have turned to other RTS games in the mean time, but in light of the recently supposed "fixes" on Beta 3 we might give Sins another go on our next meet.  My question is this.

What is y'alls experience with the new version? Does it still Dump often and does it still have that annoying desync?

Please let me know y'all so we do not go through th etrouble of attempting another LAN party of sins that reaks of FAIL.

To be honest, Beta 3 is virtually unplayable for me. While it worked great for the first 25 minutes or so, it seems to inevitably crash. The sync bug that existed in Beta 2 seems to be fixed now, and I haven't encountered it in any of the 25 minute games I've been playing. The main problem is now minidumps - if they get those fixed by Wednesday, we'll be golden.

On a side note, try not to be too harsh on the beta. It is a beta after all, and the developers seem to be doing a very good job keeping up with these problems, and have stated that most crash issues have been fixed on their side. If you encounter any issues while playing Entrenchment, let them know so they can have it fixed by Wednesday.

One last tip, if you do decide to try out Entrenchment Beta 3, do not verify the install, it will break the game. This is a known issue, and a fix is available in your Sins folder if you (like me) verified anyway. The file you should look for if that happens is called "sinsentrench_post2.exe".

If you don't install Entrenchment, vanilla Sins works fine with the 1.14 patch.

The devs have been working *very* hard to track down desync bugs (and it's scary how many of them there have been!).  If you're one of the people who are getting desync errors on a regular basis, they REALLY want your info!

25 minutes you say? that sounds like a problem I had. did you have an advent ai in the game. apparently when advent (ai or human) uses its mines the game crashes. it will be fixed in the next build/ final, but if you had an advent ai, better try and play a game without them. I did that and had an hour long game just fine.

good to hear about the hour-long game -- but I get the feeling that it was luck. From what I have gathered and been told by devs it is both advent AI (deploying mines) and the vasari AI (marauder's subversion ability) which will cause the minidumps. So, until wednesday I think we may just be testing against (and with, because presumably allied AI also have the same problems) the TEC.

I have no doubts to their work ethic or comitment to a quality product.  I suppose I can wait until the entrenchment final version comes out because my next LAN party is not until next weekend.  But man I hope they finally kill the dreaded MiniDumps or we might try just vanilla Sins instead (does anyone know anymore if vanilla sins has all these dumps and desyncs?)

As many other people have stated, the primary cause of the minidumps are the Advent homing mines and the Vasari Marauder's Subversion ability. If you set the AI to TEC, and make sure that those abilities aren't used, the game is perfectly stable - no sync bugs, no minidumps. I just got out of a game that was 3 1/2 hours long, and everything worked fine.

Enjoy the game.

Last night my friends and I experienced an out of sync bug and I know that it happened for me after we had to load a saved game.  There are more details about how it happened in the thread I made. https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/340747

You should read it and see if of the conditions were similar to make it go out of sync.
