Give Temporary Ban to "Ban King" aka "Kia2" from ICO for text spamming?

Today, Sunday Feb 22, 2009, at around 2:35 U.S. EST, a guy named "Ban King" who then changed his name to "Kia2" spammed the ICO chat channel with junk text.  Even after people /ignored him the first time as "Ban King", it looks like he changed his name and came back as Kia2 and then spammed us again.

Can you guys check the ICO Lobby logs to confirm this?

Is he deserving of a temporary vacation from ICO?  How does a two week or a one month ban sound?

Yellow text on white background is a more serious offense.  I do not think it is possible for devs to ban peoples' game ID based on their ICO username at a given time - or, at least it hasn't been the case in other games I've played.  Revocation of the ability to join the multiplayer lobby probably isn't in the ToS.  Ban someone from chat, and they will come here and be twice as annoying to a much wider audience.

It is impossible to actually block a person from pissing people off, that's what proxy servers are for.

Besides which, he would just say "it was my brother" or something and get off the hook.  typing /ignore fagballs or whatever someone's name is, isn't such an ordeal.

How about:

1.Ban their entire IP range,

2.ban their Sins serial

3.Ban their Impulse account

4.Ban their access to the entire Stardock collection of websites.

As a whole, we would mostly be happier.

Add into the ToS : we reserve the right to maintain a quality of service for other customers, not just one ass.

It isn't as easy as using the /ignore command because a spammer can just leave and change his name to something that's difficult to type.  There's also join/rejoin a channel spam.

1) Banning their IP range doesn't do anything whatsoever, don't be a tard.  Proxy, tor, etc...  forget it.

2) Probably not possible, ToS... and heck knows he'd just blame it on some kid being on his computer.

3) See 2, also prevents the possiblity of any future sales, and since it would prevent him from using the games he bought, it would be illegal.

4) See 1.  Ban one IP address, a whole range, a whole country, it doesn't matter, you just bounce your connection someplace else.  It can be done indefinitely - until he gets bored, which can just be accomplished by ignoring him in the first place.

Right... if Ironclad hasn't thought to have /ignore commands be usable on a name in a list or temp-banning people who join/exit/join/exit or otherwise flood, then yeah that's pretty silly.  A 5 minute ban would be adequate in almost all cases.

Even so, just ignore it, he'll go away when he notices something shiny.
