Multiple borders

Is there any effective way to manage multiple borders, and still overtake computer players while still making advances?  I am currently playing a game was me vs 3 AI FFA, down to 2 AI's, but both are heavily defending their borders, and I don't see any feasible way of advancing without losing ground to overtake 1 and then go for the other.  I am at fleet limit.

build mass defense and then help your other fleet

Barricade both borders, split your fleet, and make hit and run attacks to draw them into your defences.

Accept some losses. All that matters is that their borders collapse faster than yours.

most importantly   split fleets,   even if they are in the same grav-well   split up the fleet, and have them do different tasks... or work together on the same one "still split tough"

look what the AI has, massed kodiaks?   get bombers,  massed Light Frigate?    get LRF's

ALWAYS get support frigates,  if u play TEC get hoshiko's    25 of them in a maxed out fleet will surely keep you alive....   alot longer.. 10 command cruisers wont hurt either

advent, rely's less on support... guardians are a must... healer also helps ifu have the tech for it.....

vasari....least relied on support.. but still useable, 5/10 of each   just to have a few nice bonusses

go for a massive lrm seige, weaken their fleet, then bring in the bigger guns

If there is a back-door to either AI empire, then send a small strike force to harass it.  The AI will send his main fleet to intercept, leaving his front border completely undefended.  You can now move in, capture some territory, and have it fortified before the AI gets back.  With proper scouting and cat-and-mouse play, I've reduced an AI down to his homeworld while his fleet just travelled back and forth between my two smaller fleets.

Split fleets works wonders against the AI, because it always keeps one massive "fleet of death".  Two smaller fleets that can fall back to a line of static defense will absolutely destroy the AI, because it will always leave one of its borders undefended, and so long as you're careful to scout and know where his fleet is so it doesn't catch you by surprise he'll just spend all his time running around while you ravage his empire.

Another nice strategy is to plot down some PJI's, then retreat your fleet away from the front lines.  The AI will jump into the system, thinking it's "undefended" even though your main fleet is only one phase jump away.  Now jump back in and slaughter him.  The AI is stupid, never learns, and is woefully unadaptive.  Use this to your advantage :-)

depending on ai level and there defensive fleet size

barracade border

fill tactical slots for planets behind border with super weapons and set them to autocast

throw all your supplys in to one massive fleet making sure that you have all avalible caps used and just crush through planetary defenses

and retreat behind your barricade if a large hostile fleet arrives

note this only works if you have a huge economic advantage and can replace frigets/crusers easaly

so fill every logisticle slot with trade ports

oh and keep fleet formations tight so at least most of your ships can benifit from aoe buffs (this means keeping your carriers with your fleet if you play advent... this sounds bad but theyre actually safer there)

if your advent focus on using ToHs close to your boarder and let the culture spying ability moniter your oppnents actions

If Vasari - Neutral extracors aren't just a source of income!  they are great for monitoring gravity wells, too!  and your scout captures them, not the expensive slow migrator!

best tactic:  build max turrets in a reverse U shape on the side of the planet you expect them to attack from, and position half your fleet there.  AI will head straight there and attack that and the support of your turrets will blast them to bits.

meanwhile, quick-jump in a few worlds with a small force and start blasting the hell out of their infrastructure.  hold the rest of your fleet back until theirs retreats to deal with your sabateurs, then storm their just abandoned world.
