[NOT A BUG - I'm just dozy] Enemy "neutral area" extractors acting as if they're still allied. (BETA 3.0)

Hello.

I was wondering if anyone has come accross this bug i did earlier.

I was playing as TEC in an AI game offline (every AI was TEC) and i had built up a good "reputation" with an AI player. However i went to war with them and in a neutral uncolognisable area gravity well (with 2 neutral extractors - think they were crystal) i clicked my forces to attack them, however instead of attacking they did it as move order. (it said they were invunerable - as if they were still my ally).

(The "go to war cooloff" timer had expired) and i attacked their other structures in their gravity well without a problem, has anyone ever had this?

Its only happened in one game as far as i know, but it may sound more serious due to that 1. an enemy gets free intel that can't be destroyed and 2. they get invunrable extractors.

(I have re-loaded my game and it had replicated it successfully)

If no one has heard of it before i will upload what is needed - i assume this is a saved game?

(SORRY - THIS THREAD/POST SEEMS TO HAVE REPLICATED - MODS PLEASE DELETE ONE IF POSSIBLE)

neutral extractors are invulnerable and by design. you can however capture them, via the colony ship for tec and advent and via the scout for vasari. they are a great source for resource income, so always be sure to grab as many as you can.

edit: if you hover over their infocard, it will give you that info as well. as most things in the game.

My appologies i don't think i was clear.

The extractor was in a neutral gravity well it was already captured by an previous ally (cease fire - around 90% friendlyness) (who was blue - hence the extractor being blue and not grey) - who i was now at war with, making them an enemy. However the enemys extractor (as they had previously captured it in a neutral gravity well) was acting as if we were still allied (aka i can't attack it - it would just move to it).

I hope i have explained it better?

you do mean those extractors in the wells that cannot be colonised, right?

ok, again. you can NEVER attack or destroy the neutral extractors, ever. doesn't matter if you are allied or enemies, they cannot under ANY circumstances be destroyed. only captured. if you want, try it with enemy 'neutral' extractors (I know that sounds stupid), it won't work either. the whole point of them is to provide something different in neutral wells to battle over and something that cannot be destroyed per se, only taken over. and fought over they are indeed (even the ai finally takes places some priority on them in the beta 3 build of entrenchment).

now, I hope I was clear and enjoy the game :)

Benjist, he didn't misunderstand you; you were clear, but you were just wrong about how the game works.  Extractors in neutral wells have ALWAYS been invulnerable, whether their owner was an ally or an enemy.  You could never blow them up with ships, you've always had to capture them using colony ships (TEC/Advent) or scouts (Vasari), although you could only do this to enemy extractors (can't capture an ally's extractor this way).  It didn't matter whether the extractor was claimed while someone was an ally or not.

Nothing has changed in that regard; in the scenario you gave in the original post, everything was working as intended.  You tried to tell your fleet to target an extractor in a neutral well, it realized the target was invulnerable, and did a move order by default because it simply can't attack that target.  The only difference between now and before was that now, AI players are much better at grabbing neutral-well extractors; it used to be that a good player could grab all of them early on and get a massive resouce boost.

EDIT: sorry, he beat me to it, for some reason the board didn't update right on my computer.

Your right!

My Appologies!

For some reason i must have had the mistaken impression that you have to destroy them to colognise them (i always thought they worked similar to normal gravity well planet controlled extractors which you have to destroy via taking the hull down). - I guess its because i always used to colognise them first and the AI never touched them! - Just assumed they worked the same as they do near a planet.

Thanks to both of you for clearing that up for me.
