An idea

ya know, i was bored while playing and my mind started to wonder, and i thought, you know, i wish the right half of the Kol looked like the left half, then i thought, you know, it would be sweet if there was a mod tool released that allowed you to edit the mesh's in a modular way (ie, you build your ship in sections in it then mod it into the game). well, its an idea anyhow, probly quite a bit dificult to make and probly wont see the light of day but it would be nice if stardock made a tool where you get the verry basic hull of each shi[ and allowed you to build on to it. (only probly that i would see really is weapon mounts, but even thoes could be made to be dependent on what peace you chose). well, got to get back to my game. :p

No way this'll happen without it being at launch. It's not like GalCivII, each piece would have to be uvmapped, skinned (all 3 maps) etc separately and would take ages with any decent #.

have pre skinned moduals, with uv maps and all that already. the hardest part would be ataching them. (this program would work outside of the game engine). hell right now id just settle for the XSI models so you can mod weapon points on the original ships.

Cobalt I already asked the question a while back and the answer was and I quote

"I wouldn't hold my breath for it" (or something EXTREMELY CLOSE TO THAT) but yeah general idea is...won't happen!

Only way it can happen if its players that get one going (and we know the odds that would come to fruition).

:) Nice idea, a Galaxy Forge for maps and adding ships to start. Particle Forge of course for the weapon and glittery effects.  And a Model Forge, like a mesh paint program, drop it in, edit, cut, paste, add, draw, save back as mesh and away we go!!!!   :)

Sounds Wonderful!!!
