Ok, is it just me or are you guys sick of having to restart a game after updating? i had 2 games saved (one in entrenchment and one without) and after updating i find, YET AGAIN, that i cant finish them XO ! with any other game i have i can pick up a save after updating and finish it, but like a murder with a good laywer my game saves keep getting off! Where is this going to end?!?!

well you could try not updating till you finish your game.

But the reason why updating ruins the saves is cause some of the data that makes the game go round changed and doesn't match whats going on in your save.

its pointless to yell about things had to change and change is good.

Try to finish your games before you update thats all i got.

It's been that way with every patch... you just gotta finish your games before you update.

It sucks, but I would rather they work on fixing the minidumps and other freeze bugs then worry about making save games compatible with previous versions.

Lots of adjustments and changes make it difficult to have the same game work the same way as the patch intends the game to.

ya i know i was just venting a bit, i had a nice game going.

It annoys me as well... But its just a fact of life...

Death, taxes, and patches.

And I dunno about you, but patches seem to be the best of the lot.

I understand that you're venting, we've all probably lost games in progress for the same reason.

I think it's the lesser of the two immediate evils though; complaining about losing a game save (however cool it was/is, it's still One game match) due to a patch, or complaining that All games current and near future are messed up because of <insert cause of issue here> because we're not receiving patches.  Looking back on the history of the game I'd have to say we've been exceptionally lucky in the respect of getting patches and the devs taking player feedback into consideration.

And usually we get a huge heads up thats one is coming. So its not like they just spring it on ya mid game.

A nice, friendly warning explicitly stated about the effect of the updates (even in the release notes) would have been kind and not cost them any money.  It seems the vendor has a sharp disdane for or at least little regard for the user community.  Pity.  The game is servacable and pretty fun to play.  The user support is attrocious; again, sad.

Happy to say I couldn't disagree with you more Pale Rider.  Ironclad and Stardock may have their faults like anyone else, but through this forum I've had far more contact with both than I've ever seen from any other developers/publishers.  I can't think of many other instances where I can report a bug on a forum and have a developer of the game check back with me for more info or confirm he's fixed it, usually quite promptly.

My only suggestion would be that IC/SD go ahead and add some bright, bold text to every changelog and a dialog box on Impulse stating clearly that updating will make your previous saves obsolete.  By the amount of whining I've read on here, it's hopefully a simple way to avoid the majority of these complaints from users who seem to think code changes are magic and they don't need to check anything out before pressing update.

Problem is, you should be expecting the updates to break you saves!
