Vasari vs Entrenched Planets

Because I haven't really got it yet and I've been playing the beta can people leave any tricks of the trade they have picked up for Vasari to take entrenched worlds.

Had a great game last night by the way, I'm still figuring out how to destroy SBs best as Vasari though.  The AI is retarded at it, his Vasari fleets almost always loose.  There must be a trick me and the AI haven't figured out yet.

Do I need a Desolator?

So far every single star base kill has been from a massive investment by me.  I feel like i'm missing something as other races can make a single investment for a group of torpedo ships / starfish and just take it out without collatoral damage.

You get the tech that allwos you to build your starbases faster,t hen you build a starbase in his gravity well :O  Also Nano-Disassembler is probably my favorite anti-Starbase ability :) Combined with Subverter's lower shield mitigation it will make short work of the base :O

you could also try bomber squadrons and Junsurak Sentinels to take out the SB's own fighter squadrons. i'm still trying to figure this stuff out too, but at the moment i'm treating SB's more or less the same way i would have treated a Sins 1.14 grav well loaded up with turrets and hangar d's.

And with the help of Kostura's temporary Phase Stabilizer, you can simply bypass chokepoints, and hit right into the juicy, undefended core worlds.

applies mostly to Advent starbase tough... you'l have alot less effect with that strategy applied on TEC or Vasari... tough still effective

Bomber run the hell out of it.

Also a fully upgraded with frontal shield vasari SB is your SB killer as vasari.

just had an epic game with my mate him Varsari, me advent.  We had drove each other to stale mate on a small map so we decided that he would attack me on home planet to try to take it down for a laugh.  HE had a average fleet, 6caps, but about 25bombers/20fighters.  My defence was maxed, with about 27fighters a few caps and lots of mines.

First he flet in and went to the back of the planet that had no mines and kept hitting me with bombers trying to take down hanger bays.  He was unable to do that as they kept repairing, he then attacked my planet forcing me to bring my fleet out to fend him off we each lost about 2 caps before i fell back to the starbase.

He was slowly brining in more fleet and i was slowly building my lost ships, another stalemate.  He just flew around the starbase really.  Anyhow shortly later the game crashed, just as well cause we'd been playing 3hours solid and couldnt take anymore! lol

well there is always the option to ceasefire with the AI (if you are playing against them), build a starbase at their worlds then declare war, im doing that in a game as vas against hard ai at the mo

Just had a game where I had to secure a corner of the gravwell, build my Vasari starbase, and upgrade it to take out fully or near fully upgraded TEC starbase surrounded by hangars (it had at least 6 upgrades, I think...maybe more, I didn't look at the replay.)  I ended up putting 7 upgrades on mine and having to support it with Overseers and Carriers.

Lets just say, it is painfully slow to assault powerful starbases in this manner, though it works.

I totally disagree with the first part. I actually tried this last night, he had a pumped up starbase I put in  a vasari starbase, pumped it up to the max!!!! the max ( not strikecraft)   that thing took forever. I sent a hole fleet of cap ships with support around another way. They finally came round and mopped up what was left.

What is good against starbases is bombers and groups of capital ships, especially with the nano dissambler of the egg. That and the vasari planet bombers disintegrate ability, that works nicly too...

I thought a starbase would kill another one easily but it took forever, very very very slow. did I say it took forever?

(and yes, pumping it up to the max took some time too.)

of course alone starbase will take ages, but combiend with fleet piece of cake.

Against the Ai the easiest thing to do is attract their fleet away by attacking another planet then use two kosturas to allow you to jump right to the starbase then kill it before his fleet can get back to it. Although while I was doing this he surrendered cause i had 4-5 kosturas just on auto fire killing all his buildings. :/

Really with the kosturas it opens up a world of new tactics you can use to either counter or avoid other races SB's.
