Trade routes
How does the game determine what makes a trade port a valid part of a trade route?
It confuses me. Sometimes you can make your trade route longer by REMOVING a trade port that seems to be stopping certain planets being connected.

For each planet with a trade port, the game calculates the shortest route to each other planet with a trade port, passing only through other systems which have a trade port (or systems which cannot support a trade port). The longest route between any two planets (passing only through other TP systems) is then saved as the trade route ![]()
The reason for this, I think, is to encourage people to place trade ports on (almost) every planet they colonise, rather than just dumping loads of trade ports on odd planets.
This should no longer be true for Entrenchment, though. In vanilla, neutral grav wells and stars are ignored so they do not break the trade chain. In Entrenchment, they are counted so if you want a trade chain to go through a neutral, you have to deploy a starbase with a trade port upgrade in it.
This seems like it will give a rather hefty advantage to the TEC, since they can put a trade port on a dead asteroid whereas other races cannot (unless they now have something similar to development mandate for the other factions in Entrenchment).
its great i was behind money wise in a game as tec I built a trade route to the sun put 3 bases there loaded them with tradposts, I had a very long traderout with about 8 tradeposts in the sun...
mo money mo money mo money....
Yes there is
All Starbases have a trade port upgrade.
I think he meant the research that grants TEC 4 extra logistics slot at every planet, allowing dead 'roids to have a trade port, saving money from having to deploy a starbase with a port upgrade.
you can have moar than one base on a sun?
Up to 4 at stars, yep.
kool
is it just one for every thing else?
